Russell Moore is wonderful! He is cookie and eccentric, but he gives his classes all of his enthusiasm. There were a lot of students in my class who complained about not doing well in the class, but they were also the people who coincidentally did not read the material. IF YOU READ THE REQUIREMENTS YOU WILL PASS THIS CLASS WITH FLYING COLORS. He may annoy you when you're having a bad day and you don't want to listen to his Elvis songs, but I always left happy I went to class. Oh, and if you get perfect attendance not only do you get extra credit points, but then the final is optional. His three tests are curved, and so are the three essays you have to write. He is a pretty easy grader, OTHER than his cards he makes you do. Double and triple check them, because he can tear them apart real fast. Overall though, Professor Moore is great. He's excited and he forgets to let you talk, but there are much much worse teachers you could have. TAKE HIM.

The class itself isn't too bad. Russell Moore is kinda like Monk teaching a class. His sense of humor is so terrible it's funny. His test are impossible. He focuses way too much on details. Details that are impossible to remember.
Just pay extra attention in class and you should be ok. He has mandatory meetings with all his students, which has been my favorite part this far.
If you have perfect attendance (not missing more than 1 class) he gives a bonus.
Also, the cards you have to do are stupid, but do them anyway. If you just give him what he wants, you'll do fine on those.
He's realllly OCD
FYI: He loves Big Red!

this professor is a JOKE!!!!! hes so random and he gets off topic all of the time. he has a story for everything and i took his class in the i TV room and he loves to see hiself on camera.
the assignments arent that bad but he grades VERY hard. any little mistake that is on your paper he takes points off for them. not using the correct comma, semicolon or anything he deducts point. so make sure you profread everything that you turn in at least three times.
and he does take attendance and you are allowed to miss up to 2 without getting any points off. and if you have perfect attendence you dont have to take the final

Russell Moore is the best teacher i have had at WKU. i had this class as a winter term and it was still a lot of fun. This guy is a riot. The only bad thing about this class is that he grades really herd. If you proofread your work you will be fine though. He just does it to make you learn to proofread everything. Definitely take this class. everybody should experience this guy during their time at western.

Mr. Moore is crazy. Seriously the class isnt bad at all with only three major tests and he gives extra credit for perfect attendence and the final is optional. But Mr. Moore is Crazy! seriously he babbles all the time, gets of track easily, and extremely nitpicky on his tests. He reminds of Rainman. Sittign through his class is like a train wreck

This is probably one of the easiest English 300 classes out there. He gives 4 in class essay assignments which are fairly simple if you follow the instructions, and you have to do some reading which he will give a quiz over. He is very strict on grammar, spelling, and word count. If you can get these things down, the class is easy. There were a couple of oral reports during the session but they are very low stress compared to what you think they will be. The final paper had to be only 1250 words which is pretty short. He also gives extra credit for good attendance, perfect attendance = 25 bonus points. He might kind of scare you at first because he is sooo silly, but he's actually a really great guy, probably one of the best teachers I've ever had. He takes the time to get to know each student and he is very helpful.

Mr. Moore is a nice guy; however, he will bore you to death, and if that doesn't get you all the work you do will. If you can take the business equlivilant you should. You will have twice the amount of work, and he grades very harshly, -10 for misspellings and such.

I absolutely loved Russell Moore. I think you have to be a certain type of person to sit through his Eng. class because he can be pretty random sometimes. He does enjoy talking...about any and everything so talk to him. Buy the textbook because you are required to read from them, this is where he gets all of his quizzes and assignments from. If you only miss 2 days of class the entire semester he gives you 25 bonus points, and the final is optional. You have to write essays, but they are really easy and he drops the lowest grade from the essays, quizzes and note cards you do. I loved this class with him, and will definitely be taking him for Eng. 200.

I STRONGLY recommend you take this course wih this professore via Corrospondence. There are a lot of assignments but only ONE exam (the final). College is like life...it is as easy as you make it! You can play by the rules and graduate with honors OR you can moan and complain about life and be a bitter adult. The choice is yours...

Some people may find Russell Moore amusing, but I personally think he's an idiot. And while I find some idiots amusing, Mr. Moore is just annoying. He's extremely OCD and will not start class until his desk is properly adorned with his Big Red plush and his WKU red towel, and his desk is straightened a certain way. He will proceed in wasting time by repeating phrases like "Poetry is good!" and "Read!" (which is frequently the "Word of the Day"). He will also have several visual aids, just in case you didn't catch that he said "Poetry is good" and/or "Read!"
There is hardly ever any homework in this class, which could be good if you have enough self-motivation to keep up with the reading. However, don't think you can just read the material and then not come to class. His tests consist of minute details that he find amusing in the assigned reading, so you have to be in class to hear what amuses him. The way you can tell if he finds something amusing is if he repeats it several times in a row. Sometimes he'll make up some silly way of remembering a specific section of the book. Then on the test he'll have you match one of his made-up words/phrases with the title of a story. So if you're ADD (if you aren't already, this class might cause it) then you won't do very well on the tests. If you're not ADD and you can stand to put up with the rantings of a crazy man, then maybe this class is for you.

WOW! The old man is horrible! I posted on here several semesters ago, but for some reason is not on here anymore. This old pervert needs to retire, period. His grading is not acurate, unless you are a liberal, or an athlete. So if you have any morals at all, do not take him, or he may be up your alley if you have your head up a Clinton's butt. But in all honesty, he needs to go back to Arkansas, he is not ripe yet.

At the start of the semester, the class is really fun. Moore makes lots of jokes and is rather out there, but it is enjoyable. He seems really laid back and everything...and then you take one of his tests. He will talk it up as being easy, but you will see some of the most obscure details pulled out of those stories. He will also throw in trick questions that are short answer. He turns out to be very OCD, and his jokes just get really old. I could handle all of this, but when the poetry unit came along, people started to express opinions about how they interpreted the poem. If it is not his view, it is wrong. No matter what. He does not respect the views expressed by the students, and he can be quite rude at times.

This professor is hilarious. I couldn't even sleep in the class because he was so funny. He's extremely eccentric and loopy. He makes sure to get to know his students well. There are not really tests in this course aside from a basic grammar test in the beginning. He does give 4 quizzes but he tells you the answers to the questions the day before the quiz. There are a few writing assignments - maybe a bit fewer than one per week, and a couple of oral presentations, one of which can be completely off the cuff, the other is a summary of an interview of a family member or person in the line of work you are going into. Non-English majors find this course difficult depending on their writing skills - he is very technical about spelling and grammar. If you have someone in the writing center or the learning center look over your papers before turning them in, you'll be just fine. Great course if you've got a heavy semester. I found time to work on other homework, although he is so funny it's extremely difficult not to listen to the class.

Mr. Moore is a very nice person, as far as a teacher, his tactics are VERY STRANGE! He is very hard on grading. He counts off a ridiculous amount of points on homework for mispelled words or incorrect use of commas. I once did a card for his class over a short story worth 10 points, he counted off 6 points because I left off the author's name on each side. It was only worth 10! His tests are MOSTLY essay, and extremely hard. He asks for minor details that are hard to remember. I liked him as a person, but I wouldn't recommend him as a teacher.

He always had music playing before class and is very organized even though his personality is OFF THE WALL!! Some people can't stand him, but I didn't have a problem with him. The tests are what get you! DETAILS DETAILS DETAILS...I'm not joking...its rough....but if you listen in class and read the material you'll be fine. I could see how the wrong teacher could make this class a pain in the butt, but Moore is not too bad!

I took this class last spring and it was the biggest waste of my time. He grades based on his opinion of how things should be, not what has been taught to you in the past, and he grades harsh. He really does take off 10 points for the smallest thing such as a misplaced comma in a paper. He takes up class time with his small talk and nonsense, and will make you stay until the last second in class, although most of the time he really only has a good 10 minutes of anything intelligent to say. He has a unique way of presenting material, I guess you could say, but he is an awful teacher.

He is very spacey and wastes a lot of class time going on and on about any little thing that gets his attention. (It could be the fly buzzing around the room). He seems loopy in his lectures, but as soon as he grades your papers, he marks off 10 points atleast for one mistake (Literally). He grades very hard, and doesn't make a lot of sense, but if you want an unconventional teacher, then take him.

Mr. Moore was a great teacher. We only take 3 tests. A short story test, a drama test, and a poetry test. He says they get easier, but i beg to differ. There is a lot of reading involved, but i took it during the summer, so everything was crammed into a short period of time. There is a big journal project over reading assignments and there are notecards. Each test was worth 150 points. The journal project was worth 50 points, and that is a lot of work for only 50 points.(Don't wait until the last minute) Total the notecards are worth 100 points. Ps don't spell anything wrong on the notecard, make sure you have story titles, and the designated amount of words. This all adds up to 600 points. The student assigned the story discusses it to the class, an he just puts his two cents in. Students do most of the teaching. Just make sure you pay attention to little details in the story and the stuff he says, because even though what he says may not be directly related to the story, it may be on the test. Warning: He gets off topic alot, and someone may have to let him know about himself. He gets excited about stories that have sex in them, and he picks favorites. His favorite is usually a female. Also, if you don't like getting his attention, sit to the right side of the room, otherwise sit to the left.
He has an obsession with the not just reading, but the word read in general. You will see a new read poster students made every class.
there are a lot of opportunites for extra credit. He asked me to sing a poem to the them of Gilligan's island for 10 extra points on my test. How hard is that.

I have always liked English until I took this class with this teacher. Mr. Moore has his own rules about English and grammer. He grades very hard on your papers. If you put a coma where "he" thinks there is no need for one he counts off 5 points. If you put a word in the paper that "he" thinks shouldn't be there he takes off 5 points. So if you make 2 mistakes your grade goes down a whole letter grade. He strongly suggests you to proofread your papers. I had all my papers proofread and they still weren't good enough for him! The only way to get on his good side is to suck up. I would advise to take another teacher if possible!!

This man is crazy. I'm not just saying that b/c he's got an odd sense of humor, I'm saying it because I really think he's got a screw loose. Everyday he came in he laid his stuffed Big Red on the table, covered it w/the red towel and then put a pack of Big Red gum next to it. I think it's OCD, but if you can tolerate his crazyass all semester long then you'll do alright. His tests SUCK ASS! They aren't terribly hard if you read the stories, it's just that they're so damn specific. Pretty much show up and do your reading and you're good. I don't recommend taking the MWF early class b/c when you go in on Friday with a hangover his loud Arkansas hick voice seems even looooooouder. But the class was entertaining and I thought it was alright. Do your cards it's easy points

Russell Moore is an excellent professor. He is eccentric, but the classes are fun and the tests aren't very difficult if you have read the material. His studyguides are very useful guides for studying for his tests. The class is divided up into different sections: short stories, plays, and poetry. Also, you read a relatively short book. There are tests over each of the sections. The final is not mandatory if you miss 2 or less classes.

Professor Moore is an awesome teacher! He is very firm in his beliefs, and shares them with you, but does so in a humorous way. I learned loads in his class. It wasn't exactly easy, you do have to work, but his teaching style makes learning fun.
The book is broken down into a few specific short stories, poems, and plays--Everyone signs up for a different one, then presents them to the class.
The tests are made out to see if you truly paid attention--He takes minute details form the text, and you're required to identify it. Every test has at least 1-2 essays. One-on-one time with him in his office is also required about 3 times a semester.
Make signs, or bring him food for extra credit.
The final is over the class novel--But if you have good attendance, you don't have to take it.
There is also a journal--do it as you go along--it is much easier. You are required to summarize certain readings, in a minimum of words. This is worth 50 points.

I had to take my course book to him to show him the correct rule. He commented on a comma error in an email I sent to him but nothing about the attached assignment. His feedback consisted of check marks. I basically learned one thing make sure you have the right amount of words and he will leave you alone. I could train my dog to run a word count program. He kisses the textbook everytime he mentions it. He also is obsessive about commas. You have to be able to forget everything you have learned about proper writing and use improper puncuation and grammer to do well on your writing assignments. I have never had a teacher that was as bad as he is.

Everyone at WKU should take Russell Moore's courses! Moore knows the score! Seriously, you should only take Moore if you want to have a great time and learn a lot. He is the funniest, nicest, and easily one of the smartest professors at Western. DO NOT TAKE HIM IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A SENSE OF HUMOR! People with large egos and small minds will be lost- everyone else will have a great time.

Mr. Moore himself is a pretty crazy guy, and as a person, I have to say I like him. I have to agree, however, that he does play favorites and often makes comments that I think some would find offensive; but that doesn't stop him. It's annoying that there's no real depth in the conversations. He doesn't open literature and poetry up for interpretation as it should be. If a published critic didn't say such-and-such about a work, other opinions are wrong. The quizzes are kinda strange, but they make you pay attention and attend class. (I think that's the whole point of them.) Being an English major, I think the class was a waste of time, but it counts as an elective, and it's an easy grade. It's nice to take a bunny course every so often... if you can stand Mr. Moore's rantings.

Mr. Moore is the best teacher. He has music at the beginning of class to get you in the mood. Then, he spends the majority of class talking about his family or his life. It can be boring at times, but you can't help but to laugh. His grading is pretty easy. He gives you bonus points for coming to class everyday, which is a plus. He has 4 quizzes a semester, but he tells you all the answers (literally) the class period before the quiz. If you want to take this class as a correspondence class, I recommend it. But if you want a class that you don't do much work in, take this class. You do learn, just in a fun way.

Russell Moore is an extremely good teacher!! He is very funny and keeps the class very actively involved with his teaching. I hate literature, so naturally I thought I would do terrible. Take his class and you will end up doing very well if you follow his instructions EXACTLY! He does give a lot of work, but if you attend class and participate, you should do well. I also liked him because he got to know something about each one of his students. He gives an attendance bonus too!!! :)

Moore's zany antics make you feel like you are in a comedy blockbuster. With outrageous claims to have stolen items from the homes of many famous authors and odd comments this is the class to take. It certainly woke me up in the morning. Great class.

Moore is a nut case. He makes rude comments to some students and plays heavy favorites. He wastes lots of class time and doesn't teach any of the material. He expects you to read it and then comments on the reading with something generic and irrellevant. There are no tests or papers. You have to turn in note cards which are graded fairly easily. The killer part of the class is that over 50% of your grade is based on 10 point-10 question quizzes. The quizzes cover completely random and unpredictable information that are mostly one comment that he has said during class once. Some quizzes may be all of the dates that the authors lived and wrote and some may not have any dates its somewhat hard to tell. I dont' recomend him unless you have a good memory for tidbit information.

No exams, just short (300 word) writing assignments over the material covered in the book. Dr. Moore's class is something everyone should experience during their career at WKU. I gave minimum effort and got an A. He's anal about his grading and wastes classtime but he's pretty funny. The only sucky thing about the class was a 8-10 minute presentation. Could've done without that. Overall, Dr. Moore is the man who inspires millions.

Mr. Moore, as all of his students will attest, is a handsome, intelligent, dedicated teacher. He also has a great sense of humor. His 390 class is fun also.
