I have always made very good grades, especially in English... Cathy Ware is the WORST teacher i have ever had. Beware!! and at all costs STAY AWAY!
she does not explain things very well but expects you to give her EXACTLY what she wants. She plays favorites and is very quick to tell you that you are wrong in front of the whole class. She has openly called people out for having bad grades in her class while the whole class is still there. She does not care about your success in her class, instead she cares about hearing the sound of her own voice and giving extensive busy work.

I went into this class with a very well liking of English, my 100 level class was a piece of cake and I figured I would do as well as I did before. Boy, was I wrong. Mrs. Ware is not a fair teacher, her grading is absolutely ridiculous and she does not accept anything if it is not in the words that she would use. She will deduct two percentage points off of your final grade if you miss a class, another two for the next time and so on. My final grade was two points away from a C and she did not round it up. Her lectures are very hard to understand and the papers a too hard in general. She is a perfectionist and acts like a nazi if not received. She does play favorites and will completely call you out for your stupidity in class in front of everyone. This is by far the worst teacher I have ever had, and pretty sure ever will. Stay away from her.

If you have a life, don't take Mrs. Ware! This class is very time consuming and you have to devote most of your time to this class to do halfway decent in it. She is a very difficult grader and will tear your papers apart. I was appalled when I got my first paper back and saw the insane amounts of red ink all over the pages. Her tests aren't that difficult, but they will take you the whole time to finish them-- that is if you're lucky to have the whole class to work on it. On the day of our second test, she decided to have a "review" session and took up 30 minutes of our class time doing so. The test consisted of true/false, multiple choice, an analysis of a piece from an article, and you had to read an excerpt from the textbook and create a thesis statement and a body paragraph (consisting of 10 questions, in the sequence that she wants it to be in). This was a lot of work to do in the short amount of time that we had left and she had no sympathy. I ended up leaving a chunk of multiple choice questions blank and I didn't finish all of the sentences on my body paragraph. Even if you like to challenge yourself, I would recommend that you didn't do so with her.

Anyone who has given this teacher a good review must really put all of their time towards school and not have to have a job or a life for that matter. Within the first week of this class I thought it would be an okay class, of course I was wrong after about the 4th-5th week. You have something due literally every class and her grading scale is ridiculous. Attendance is mandatory, you can only miss one day and if you miss any more than that, you get 2 points taken off of your FINAL grade. She gives you grammar quizzes and marks up your papers like she doesn't have a life and sits and grades all night. I wouldn't recommend this class to anyone who wants to have time to do anything other than Mrs. Ware's English class.

This class.... was insane.. She is known as the grammar nazi, and follows the title well. There are countless grades in the class, multiple quizes, multiple test, and 4 or 5 papers total in the class. The grading scale used is very harsh and she is extremly critical of papers. This was the only B I have received in the last year and was one of my last semesters before graduation. You are only allowed 1 absense the entire semester and after that lose 2 points off your FINAL grade. However, although this class was beyond difficult and I didn't receive the grade I wanted, I have learned more in this class that will help me in my career than all of my other non major related courses. If you want to learn a lot, and are willling to go through hell to do it, take this class. If you want an easy grade from a teacher that is not difficult, don't take the class. Up to you.

Mrs Ware is the English Nazi. The beginning of the semester on the day the first few papers were due, she didn't teach how to write them until the day they were due! It would have been helpful to know that info a week beforehand! Then the writing assignments became ridiculously hard! She has her own form you have to write in, and no one understands it. The extra credit is attending two of WKU's plays, and then writing a critique over the material(not the performance). The critique could replace some absences, or can replace one test grade(if you make higher than one of your test grades). After the writing assignments are through, you move onto grammar. The grammar wasn't too difficult, it was probably the easiest section. I don't recommend her class. I barely managed to scrape by with a B, and I'm usually a high B or A student.

It wasnt a hard class but the teacher was not very good at giving the information. She had many papers that were very specific on what needed to be in them, it was very hard to do well in the class. She was very picky. She makes you read papers outloud and will stop you and tell you what you did wrong in front of the whole class. I would not reccomend this teacher to anyone who wants to attempt to enjoy a boring class.

She tells you exactly what you need to do for this class. Her tests are easy if you pay attention in class and write down what she says is important. She's pretty laid back, but attendance IS mandatory. She counts off your final grade for missing more than 1 class. Her papers are VERY structured and if you don't follow her outlines exactly you will receive a poor grade, but it isn't hard to follow the outlines. She is very straightforward and will basically tell you exactly what you need to know and what you dont need to know. Don't try to fudge on the readings, if you don't think you will do the readings, don't take her, she CAN tell and gets upset when you don't read. Other than that she's pretty cool and isnt that harsh of a grader. I made over 100% on nearly every assignment and quiz we had. She offers a LOT of extra credit.

This "woman" is anal retentive. We had 3 papers in this class, all due within about a week of eachother- and they're RESEARCH papers. Everything I wrote was torn apart, and never made anything higher than a 60 on her papers and they took me hours to write and research....so you might want to find a different teacher..and by "might" i mean "DEFINITELY". unless you're as picky and ridiculous as she is, you're not passing with a good grade.
NOT TO MENTION, she treats you like you're a damn 1st grader and is condescending. And she's got lame jokes. Very unfunny. Think twice before you register for her class

This class was not all that hard, but having a bad teacher makes a hell of a difference. Professor Ware grades very harshly. You have quite a few papers to write and the papers are so specific that its hard to make a good grade. Each paragraph must have a certain number of sentences.....its just too complicated for a paper. She knows the subject but her delivery of the info is poor. I didnt like this class at all, I wouldnt choose professor Ware if you can help it. If you must take her, suck up to her and you'll do fine.

I definitley wouldn't recommend Mrs. Ware. Her class is extremely hard. Her exams and quizzes are very difficult and I find it almost impossible to receive an "A". She also finds it necessary to put students on the spot when they clearly do not know the answer. One time she called on me in class and I responded by saying "I don't know" to one of her questions and she embarrased me and made me feel terrible for not knowing the answer. Honestly, she doesn't make learning fun at all... she's boring and her vocabulary is out of this world. She likes to word things as confusing as possible. Unless your a perfect writer and know everything about grammar, I would NOT take this class with her.

Mrs. Ware is the toughest grading teacher I have ever had. She wants each of your answers to be exactly what she's looking for or it's wrong. She has all of these "Ware Rules" and seriously makes you write out eight sentences for each paragraph..two details with two comentarys for each detail (etc) blah blah..she does play favorites and makes it almost impossible to make an A in that class. The class I was in was doing fairly well and then out of the middle of nowhere she gives us this quiz and fails all of us on it. I think she intentionally makes her class difficult. I have to admit I have learned some from her but if you get her I guarentee you will work the hardest in this class than with any other English professor. She also favors students who show up to class really early!

Mrs. Ware is one of my favorite teachers I've ever had. I've read several evaluations that talk about how hard she is. There is some work that you'll have to do for the class, but nothing crazy. I feel like I learned a lot from her class which is the reason I'm attending college in the first place. She does have a strict attendence policy, so if you have trouble making it to class, don't take that course. Also, she is very kind to everyone in her class. I would recommend her to anyone.

Ok if any of you decide to take the advice of the two people who gave Mrs. Ware (not Dr. Ware) a smiley face, just look at the times they posted their evaluations (before 9:00am). I am a senior in college and I have taken my fair share of Difficult professors, but this lady takes the cake. First off, you get one absense before you start loosing points. Second she gives you many test where you have to answer T/F, Multiple Choice, Short Answers, and a perfect essay. They are extreamly hard and take the entire class to finish. Third she expects you relearn every grammer rule from high school all over again, and become an expert at them. Her papers are impossible to do good on. The semester before this I took Geographic Research Methods, which is a class that teaches you how write research papers, and I got a B. She doesn't want to teach you how to write a research paper, but rather how to wrtite it in the exact format she created for the class. She is activly helpful, and is a funny inteligent, and witty. Her intentions are good, but her reasoning is flawed. The reason I got an F in this class is because I was spending ridiculus amounts of time on her class and was starting to struggle in my 400 level classes because of it, so I stoped going. The best I could have hoped for was a D anyway. My average up to this point is an F. She very well could be the worst teacher Ive had in 4 years of college at this University. The fact that I took the time to write a review this long should tell you somthing.

This class is extremely hard. You will learn a whole lot and Mrs. Ware is a great teacher, but her expectations are VERY high. If you attend class and pay attention you will do well on her tests, but the papers are another story. You will have to really work to get a B on anything you write for her. She is very witty and likes to single students out who aren't up to speed with her. She definately plays favorites. If you don't know your grammer, you won't be one of them. She gives no help at all and cuts no slack. If you are not on her good side, run.

This has to be the worst teacher I have ever taken. She acts like this is still high school and counts tardies. Every 3 times your tardy she counts it as an absence. if you show up 1 minute late for class you're basically tardy!!! you're allowed 1 free absence and after that you're dropped 1/2 a letter grade!!! (Example: A+ to A to A-, etc.) If you're more than 15 minutes late you're counted absent so there's no point in going after that! I MEAN WHAT'S WRONG WITH THIS PSYCHO WOMAN! she picks favorites in the class and she tries to belittle others that don't comprehend what she's saying. i must admit, there were times where I wanted to cuss her out but I didn't. she'll make you feel like that and try to make you feel ashamed. There's no reason for a Literature class to be this hard. She grades extremely hard and has no sympathy for you...it's almost like she's laughing in your face! DO NOT TAKE THIS WOMAN! YOU'LL REGRET AND HATE EVERY MINUTE OF IT!

Mrs. Ware is a very nice lady and tries to be helpful, but her class is a little bit too much to handle for the average student taking English 300. She grades very hard and doesn't always listen to what her students have to say. She is also VERY big on grammar, so if you're not so great at it, don't take Mrs. Ware. If you are good with grammar, taking her won't be as bad. Just make sure to get things done on time. However, she could get better, this was her first semester teaching college.

DO NOT TAKE THIS WOMAN!! I had her in highschool for AP English. The class was harder then any COLLEGE CLASS I have taken thus far. First, her class is hard. I admit, you will learn...but she is a slave driver. Also, she is a smart alec. She picks the smartest kids to be her favorites and tries to humiliate any child that is not as smart. She likes to use public humiliation as punishment or encouragment to do better as she calls it. This woman is very smart and witty...so she is excellent at mocking you.
I accidentally took her again in college...not realizing who it was. the same Cathy Ware? BIG MISTAKE! SHE IS THE SAME Mrs Ware she always was. only take this class if you love English, are ready to read and write and still make a B while being constantly criticized.

English has always been one of my best subjects. This year was very different. Mrs. Ware was the teacher and it was awful. I withdrew from the course because of the expectations. She assigned way to much and I believe that she thought this was your only class. Along with an 3 page paper, you had reading to do, study for a quiz and worksheets. This was all for the next class. Sorry there is just not enough time in the day for that. If you are taking full time hours and have a job, you should stay away from this class. I think there are other 300 teachers who will give you not as much work and understand if you have other priorites other than this class. She didn't have much of a personality either which made the class very diffucult. Stay away from this class if you can help it.
