This class was easy, but it can be difficult sitting in there for 55 minutes 3 times a week. Mr. Lindsey is a really funny guy, and our class loved to joke around with him, but sometimes it can be a little boring.
I enjoyed the class thoroughly. Just make sure to pay attention to the final reviews and do the sam projects.

Mr. Lindsey is a great guy who loves what he teaches. His class is fairly easy and as long as you pay attention to his lessons you will do fine. He really cares about his students and wants them to have fun in class.

Mr. Lindsey is a nice guy and means well, but do not take this class. He has "taught" many lessons throughout the semester. Now we are about to take the final and he decides the exam will not be on anything he has really taught all semester. It's what was assigned in the "ebook". The ebook is the online textbook. It's very hard to navigate and even more frustrating trying to study from it. Now I'm stuck taking a final over stuff I haven't learned about from my teacher. I have an A in the class, but am worried about the final. I have multiple friends in this class that are all good students and are in the same boat as me. His class is so boring and apparently going to it is pointless, since the final exam isn't even on what he's talked about. I would take someone else for this class unless you want to be frustrated like me and be bored to tears.

This class is super boring. It's really hard to make yourself go to class. Mr. Lindsey cares SO much about his students though. He wants everyone to succeed. The class is relatively easy as long as you do your weekly SAM projects which are Microsoft word/powerpoints/excel projects. The tests have about 30 MC questions on blackboard and then 3-4 essays. He gives you about 11 essay questions pre-test and then picks the ones for the test so you are aware of possible questions. No attendance grade so you could ultimately never go to class except on test days since all the powerpoints and material is on blackboard. Although class is beneficial sometimes if you can't get through the boring aspect. I recommend Lindsey! Although it's boring it's a pretty easy A!

Possibly the worst lecture giver ever. Rambles and stumbles. Ridiculous amount of information and requirements for online class- seems he is overcompensating for online class. If you think just because the title says "Basic" this class will be easy.. you are wrong. He doesn't realize people may have other classes and do not have 20 hours a week to devote to him.

Take Mr. Lindsey! He is awesome. Very fun class, you learn a lot, and it is very easy. You have 3 tests, multiple choice for the most part and two essay questions. If you have a vague idea of what you are talking about on your essays you will get a 100 and all the multiple choice questions are straight out of the end of the chapters so just memorize those. You get the last 6 weeks off to work on a video project which is cool, especially if you finish early and don't have to worry about the class anymore. Mr. Lindsey is an extremely nice man and you will love him.

There is no homework and as long as you go to class you get full credit for the asignment for that day. He is really nice and grades fairly. The lecture (which is given by Dr. Cruz) does not require attendence but it helps and is given once a week, not twice like on TopNet. The lab does require attendence and the tests questions are taken from a pool of questions that are at he end of each chapter. I recommend this class. Its very easy and the teacher(s) is nice.

Dr. Crews and Mr. Lindsay are both very good teachers who know their stuff well. Attendance is not mandatory, but I would recomend going to the large lecture to completely grasp the concepts. The lab grades are based on whether you show up, not if you make a certain grade on the lab. Dr. Lindsey tells you exactly what is on the test so it shouldn't be that hard. Class is very easy, but some studying is required. If you try at all you should get an "A" on the course.

If this course is required, or you just need some easy hours, take Dr. Lindsey! He is the head of his department, and he is the nicest man ever! His tests are a breeze, as long as you do the practice once or twice, you'll have no problems whatsoever. Plus, you only have to go to class once every 2 weeks. He holds class once a week, but every other week is just a lecture that has nothing to do with the test material. The final is an option to re-take a test, so no big deal there. Easy class, nice prof.

Mr. Lindsey is one of the best teachers I've ever had. He was very knowledgeable and made everything very easy to learn. This was one of the easiest classes I've ever had. We covered, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Computer Concepts like Spam, viruses, and a little bit of hardware. If you go to class, he goes over everything you need to know. I highly recommend this class and this teacher.

For me, this class was a breeze because I know a lot about computers. SimNet is a pretty simple program to learn (that is what almost all of your tests are on) and the tutorials are in-depth. Mr. Lindsey was a cool teacher and made the class seems less stressful to the ones who had trouble. No extra credit is available, but you shouldn't need it since your final is retaking one of the tests that you didn't do very well on. This is a good class to take if you want to learn the basics or improve on Microsoft Office & Windows XP.

This is a tricky one to "rank" because you only have to go to class on test days (and for my class, that was once every 2 weeks, and if you're motivated enough, you can finish them all up by the middle of the semester and you don't have to worry about it.) The tests are interactive on various Microsoft Programs, except for the syllabus quiz and these two HORRIBLE concepts quizzes. Those are what brought me down to a B. You have to watch these videos that are almost an hour each about the inventions of computers and the internet and programs. I coudn't pay attention to them, and therefore learned nothing and bombed the concepts quizzes. You have been warned....

This course is one of the few CIS courses that offers much lecture, and Mr. Lindsey was generally very informative. He covers Publisher, Visio, and other sorts of office intergration. Though some projects might take some time, they were not very hard. My grades actually got better as the semester progressed. He uses discussion board, but he did not grade that very hard; you have to make four posts a week.
I got a bad impression of Mr. Lindsey from some earlier dealings where he refused to let me in CIS 141. However, he proved to be rather nice and student friendly in a professional sort of way. His business training I guess. This goes with the CIS minor, but it is a good class even without it.

Mr. Lindsey is a great teacher. I had him for CIS 141 and enjoyed that class. He makes it interesting and most of the assignments he lets you do almost anything you want as long as you follow a few specific guidelines. Also, instead of having a final, the last few weeks of class he just posted threads on the Dicussion Board option in Blackboard and all you had to do was reply at least 4 days a week. That was the easiest grade I ever got. I took it because I am a CIS minor and I would recommend it to anybody that wants tolearn about software such as Publisher and Outlook .

Prof. Lindsey makes me wish I were a CIS major so I could have had hiim for more classes. CIS 320 is not that difficult of a class if you are somewhat computer literate. This class teaches you how to use Microsoft Publisher, and a few other programs. You do have to buy some extra items that will cost you between 40-60 bucks and you only use them at the end of the semester. That's really the only drawback. Attendance is not mandatory but if you don't go to class he will not help you. For some of the instructions you will need to go to class because it is easier to listen to him explain it than to follow the book. Tests are given in class on the computer.

This class could have been very easy had it not been for the 'advanced proficiency' activities Lindsey makes you do. There are several tests which are incredibly easy, but like I said, he assigns two activitys that make you use the computer programs to compile data and stuff like that. Only you can never do them exactly how he wants you to, even if you have him help you every step of the way. Its ridiculous.

I thought this course was fairly easy but sometimes Mr. Lindsey didn't know how to get his point across. He goes through things very quicky and most of the time you just have to go home and read and figure things out on your own because you can't keep up with him in class. But I think the class was good overall. There are several Microsoft Excel and Access homework assignments. There are also two web page assignments that were pretty fun to work on. The tests are over stuff like networks, hardware, software, computer ethics, etc. Fairly easy if you read and do the practice tests on the books website.

Mr.Lindsey was a great teacher to have. The class is basically self taught, but itf you have any questions he is willing to help. You take practice test which are the exact same questions as the real tests. (they can be taken on your own home computer as well) Easy!!! The only half way hard part are the 2 problem solving activities, but there is online lectures that walk you through step by step. I definately reccommend Mr. Lindsey. He does nto require you to attend class except on the days you are goign to take you test!

I do NOT understand why Lindsey has bad evaluations. This is the best course I've ever taken. Why? You don't have to come to class, you don't have a textbook, you don't have notes, there is no lecture. Here's what it is, though: You come to the orientation. Learn how to get in the program. Then, you take the practice tests. The practice tests are the exact same as the real tests. They're online. And you can take the practice test as much as you want. So, take the practice test till you get an A. Then you're guaranteed an A on the test. There are six of them. If you want an A in the class, you have to make at least an 82% on all the tests, and do two practical application problems. There is no final, and once you complete the tests and the problem, you're done with the class. If you want a C, you just have to pass the 6 tests. You don't have to do the application problems. This guy is so laidback and will help you out with whatever you need. He has a sense of humor, and he's not a stuffy old professor. He's a young guy who just wants you to do good in the course and get your credit so you can be on your way. I have him for the bi-term. Take him. You'd be stupid not to.

It's almost been a full semester since I had Mr. Linsey for class, but I noticed the bad reviews he has received and decided to put my feedback in as well. First of all, I don't see how anyone could give him as bad of a rating as they did. I think he in general is a nice person and a decent instrustor. I felt if I needed help I could ask him anytime. I'm an actual CIS major where as the only class he has been evaluated on is 141 so those people might not know as much about the course work anyway. As far as the extra work that was required out of class, you have to read the tutorials to know how to do the work. CIS is a teach yourself type of major. You can't expect to learn everything from other people because technology changes to fast. Everyone of my CIS profs have put a huge emphasis on this. They teach us what they can, but by the time they teach us, who is to say that there isn't a better or easier way out there already.

I have just completed this course and took it as a bi-term online course. Mr Lindsey's tests were pretty tough. I had one of the highest grades in the class but had to keep on top of things. The online simms tests take an hour. There were six or seven of them. To do well on them you must spend time doing the practice components.
Mr. Lindsey does strike me as being a bit dry but he was always helpful to me. Overall, this class does take time and is moderatly difficult. Oh, don't forget to read the text for the in class exams or you will be lost.

I really liked Mr. Lindsey. I think the other person that has evaluated him so far probably had an unusually bad experience. I just had a problem with one of the computers during a test and Mr. Lindsey was very understanding and helpful. He has always gotten back to me when I have tried to contact him very promptly. The class was pretty easy, and not time consuming at all. Maybe two out of the seven tests were difficult. I highly recommend him and completely disagree with the other person.

The course is easy but very time-consuming. Mr. Lindsey is a poor excuse for a teacher. He does not give an inch on anything. He does not respond to your e-mails. The only way you can talk to him is physically track him down. He does not care on exams if the website has failures or if your system has failures. He is very rude to talk to and very unhelpful. His attitude is "that's your problem, not mine."
