If you want to know what pretentiousness is take Hollyfield. He is one of the most dismissive professors I've ever had and treats most students like he is above them. The class does not foster an environment where you feel like your voice is heard. He constantly talks about other students in other/previous classes and makes fun of English 100 students. Most days he just lets his TA teach the class and chimes in with whatever comment he has. He's a joke.

He lets you revise any papers that you turn in. You have to earn the grade you get to get a good grade. He has random quizzes. They are usually given at the end of whenever a novel is finished. He assigns a lot of reading for homework.
