Additional Comments |
The course basically consists of meeting once a week for about 2.5 hours or so, you watch a foreign political film, and then you have a film analysis sheet that you need to complete by the following Sunday. Along with the sheet, you also need to participate in discussion boards on blackboard answering your choice from discussion questions listed on the sheet. It's a pretty simple layout and while the analysis sheet can feel time consuming, I think it's pretty fair since you don't have a textbook and you only meet once a week. You also have 3 long papers (including one paired project) due through out the semester. Kiasatpour is a great professor, but if you are looking for an easy grade, don't look here. Kiasatpour is a tough grader, but the analysis sheets shouldn't be too difficult. The long papers are a little more difficult, but since your final is an optional take-home assignment, I think the long papers are also pretty fair. Also, Kiasatpour is sometimes unclear about exactly what he wants in his assignments or when they are do, so keep a close eye on the syllabus schedule and be ready to email him with questions frequently.
