My worst class so far. Bella only assigns "home tests" also know as a 2-3 page paper. These tests are assigned two at a time with only a weeks notice. I still have one month left in her class and I have already written six 2-3 page papers. I have 4 to go before this class is over. If you like writing papers take bella, otherwise take any other humanities class.

You don't need to attend class to do well on the tests, but attendence is mandatory for her class. The only reason I recieved a B in this class was because I missed more than 3 classes. This class is not difficult as long as you go into the tests prepared (she gives you the test questions a week in advanced on blackboard). Tests are essay so make sure you can write a page answer on each topic.

Bella is a wonderful professor, in fact, she is in my top 2 at WKU. However, with that she is also African (from Zimbabwe). With this comes a big language barrier. Her sentences are not fully worded. On blackboard, she gives some assignments and isn't fully clear on what she wants (and in her e-mails too). There was much confusion on what she was wanting in our essays for the papers we had to write. When she says "seminar" she means group presentations in front of the class. These "seminars" are SUPER easy. Just read your article, and create a discussion on it in class. She loves participation, and that's where a bulk of her credit to you comes from. Also, SHOW UP FOR CLASS. Her attendance policy is "if you don't show up for class, I'll take a chunk off your grade". Really though, it's not that hard. She is a wonderful professor, definitely one of the most passionate in the whole Religious Studies department. She did offend one of the classmates during class by not letting him speak, but she knew she was in the wrong and abruptly apologized first thing in the next meeting. She has no final, the week before, you spend it writing a 2-4 page paper on Monday and on Friday (creating two papers, 3-4 pages/piece). Kind of extensive, but I would rather have this then some cumulative final. She looks for you to discuss points on topics covered during the semester and cite several articles that you've read. No formal citation style is required, just give credit in the paper to the correct article, that's all. Notes during class aren't that hard, just follow along and listen to her. This course was great for me because my wife and I are going to be missionaries in Africa for life some day. However, with that said, you don't have to be a Christian to take this class (obviously). It's a good class for everyone!

I really liked Prof. Mukonyora and this class. I took it at eight in the morning and actually enjoyed going. The only problem with this class was that it was so big that participating was very hard, which is a major part of the grade, therefore I got a B. Overall, I would recommend Prof. Mukonyora.

Bella is SUPER nice. This course is basically just disscussion. There are some notes but not many. The reading you need she puts on blackboard so you dont have to buy anything. All her tests are essays and sometimes she gives you the topics for the essay a couple of days before the exam. Basically if you just read what she asks you to and be abble to BS a 2 page essay you will do fine! I would have made an A in the class but i didnt go to a bunch of classes. I would def reccommend this class for an extra class to fill a gen ed spot.

If you are looking for an easy A then take her! This is the most unorganized class I have ever had. I gave her a good rating becuase I took it as a general education class and didn't work for anything. There is a 6-8 page paper due at the end of the semester. Mine was 5 pages and I still recieved and A. If you need a GPA booster then this is the class for you. Beware, it is not interesting at ALL.

I really enjoyed taking this class. She is very passionate about what she teaches and you can tell from the first day. She cares mainly about your opinion which makes the exams easier. They are long but there is only three of them. I would highly recommend her as a professor because she pretty much tells you what is going to be on the test, and going to class is easy because it is interesting.

Dr. Mukonyora is very hard to understand at first, by the way that she puts her ideas, but if you really concentrate on what she has to say, and really think about what has been covered in class, then you will find yourself understanding her better and learning a lot about world religions at the same time.

Dr. Bella's classes are always quite easy.
She is a little scatter brained but is very nice. She can be a bit hard to get clear answers from when you ask her a question, but she tries hard.
Her tests are always essay, but if you have a general idea of the material it's not too bad, a lot of it is opinion.
Every class she passes around a notebook for everyone to sign for attendance, but I'm not sure how it actually factors in to the grading.
Sometimes she does powerpoints, sometimes not. When she does, it is usually just so she can keep her train of thought.
She is very fond of class discussion. Speak up, but don't irritate her.

Despite the fact that this is an introductory course, Dr. Mukonyora brings an insightful approach to those interested in exploring the world's religions. Through a careful and meticulous analysis, students will gain a strong conceptual understanding of the course material. It has been an honor on my part to have taken Dr. Mukonyora's class, and I strongly recommend her to anyone considering this course.

This was my least favorite class I've taken at Western. Dr. Mukonyora does not know how to teach or chooses not to, one or the other. She will talk for a minute on a subject and then ask the class to dicuss it when we don't know what she is talking about to begin with. She even says she doesn't like to talk and that she'd rather students just dicuss the material. This would be fine except no one knows what to discuss. She also hates Powepoint and insists on writing on the chalkboard often times unlegibly.
I also learned nothing in this course. We had to write two essays, and I had to use my notes and books from my other religious studies class in order to complete both papers.
If you like a tradional class setting where the teacher teaches the class, not the students, do not take this class.

She is very nice and a good teacher, albeit quite scatter-brained.
Has a mild African/European accent, but very understandable.
Only two essays and an essay final.
My class took a trip to the Islam center one afternoon.
Does not go in depth with any religion, just a quick survey of major world religions.
Mostly skips over Christianity, says it is covered enough in other RELS classes.

This class was terribly easy. I learned very little. Also if you are any religion other than christian, DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!!! It was apparently intended for Christians only. She stands around and complains and pokes fun at every religion other than Christianity as well as draws parallels from every religion studied to Christianity. This makes it very difficult to understand for a non-christian since those parallels won't make sense. This class was biased to the point that it was unprofessional.

This class was horrible. I was hoping to learn some things about the world religions but i didnt learn a thing. She tries to help but she seems so lost. She will talk for a few minutes about who knows what and then she will stop and say she wants to hear from the class and what we think...when really we have no idea what she is even trying to say. It is hard to understand what she means....and the videos were really boing. It was an 8am classs though.

Ahh Religious Studies... Professor Mukonyora is an incredibly interesting lady, whos nice to boot. You must complete two essays, as well as a midterm and a final in essay form. The course is pretty much one of those classes where you can take what you will from it... and with this wonderful person as your teacher, you'll probably take a lot, even if it isnt that challenging to do so... It isnt a guaranteed A though, so dont slack off TOO much.

Bella is one of the nicest teachers I have had at WKU. Her class is very interesting and very easy. You don't really have test, just a couple of papers and then a final. She is more interested in your opinion then actually right or wrong answers. Easy and interesting class.

This class was the dullest class I have ever taken in my life!! Yes, Prof. Mukonyora is really easy, but she doesn't talk about anything during class and you will NOT learn anything. Her notes are random and useless. I wouldn't even call this class an easy A just because it is SO BORING and soooo hard to sit through. I would not recommend her to anyone. The class sucks.

Mukonyora lived in South Africa, England, and now here. Breaking her accent is difficult. It took a really long time to understand her way of teaching. We only had one test all semester and that was the final. We did have to write a couple papers. If you can break her accent and figure out what she's saying the class is interesting. Otherwise it's dull. I would take her though based on the fact theres not a lot of work and if your good at BSing then youll get an A.

I spent most of the semester confused about what the requirements of the class were, and I think she did too. There is seemingly no order to the class, and the required material is questionable. Throw your syllabus away, and just pay attention in class. If she says write a paper, do it. We wrote two papers and took a final. That was it. Just be sure to show up, and you ought to do fine.

I really enjoy Dr. Mukonyora. She is fun to have in class and I think she is easy. The secret to her is that she wants you to be able to apply the knowledge that you gain in her class. She is fast to reply to emails if you have questions and sends emails recapping class, giving expectations. Two papers and one test, which she gives you study questions for. I recommend Dr. Bella

Professor Mukonyora does require attendence but you can talk to her if you miss too many classes and she wont count your absences. We have only had one test. And it was essay but we reviewed for 2 weeks prior to the test so it was easy. You have to write 2 papers. One is over a book. I didnt read the book and got an A on my paper. The second was honestly the worst paper I have ever written in college and I received an A. Dont buy her text book. She may tell you to read it or make some comments about it but it is a waste of money. Her class will scare you a little when you first start and get the syllabus but its not whats on the syllabus at all. We sit in groups have of the class and just talk about anything. Its really easy and you should take her.

She doesn't assign homework, except for two essays throughout the tri and she basically grades according to class participation. The final is a blue book, but it's like 4 questions; you have to fill up two pages of the book for one of the questions, and one page for the others, it's not that much, blue books are small. i accidentally filled up the whole book. Overall, she's very engaging and very fun and extremely understanding. I would definitely recommend a class with Bella. Plus she's from africa and went to school in England, so she's got this really cool accent!
