Professor Emanuel wasn't my first choice for this course and it worked out fine for me. I didn't like the fact that he would speed through all of his lessons, or that he acted as if we should understand something the first time he went over it, but I could deal with it fine. He can make you feel very uncomfortable because he does get in your personal space without your permission. Some of the other students in my class didn't see anything wrong with it, but it's very inappropriate. I'm a little older, and I get wanting to keep a professor who does work well with students, but there are lines that shouldn't be crossed. This man yelled at an autistic student who has a memory condition, and he yelled at him many times, for things that he couldn't even help. If the professor had done his job right, then the student would have done well in his class. It's his job by Federal Law to assist a disabled student when given the right paperwork, and it was given to him. Do not take this professor's class.

Mr Emanuele is strict on attendance and makes it rough on the ones that don't show up. If you are willing to go to class and try you will succeed in this class. I have never taken a college level math class and was scared because I am not good at math but he made it easy to learn. Very good teacher.

I do not suggest anyone take emanuel if you have any disability problems and go through the student disability services center because he will refuse to work with you which he is required by federal law.....

He teaches way to fast for it to be a developmental course

Mr. Emanuel does go fast through the material but he is always willing to help you if you need it. The tests are moderately hard but as long as you do the review he gives you before the test you should do fine. He also gives quizes almost every night which really helps your grade and are not hard. I highly suggest him.

I really enjoyed the class. Mr. Emanuel goes very fast but he is always in his office willing to help if you ask. The test are not that hard. Just do the review he gives you and you will do just fine. Overall a little difficult but worth taking.

Mr. Emanuel is a very cocky and intelligent man, but cannot simplify information for his students at all. He is more like a drill instructor for the military than a teacher. He likes to intimidate his students, the reason being, so that they will not ask questions. If you ask him a question he just disregards the question, and claims to be behind in the material he wants to cover. His tireless rants, and invading his students personal space forced myself and two other students in my class to have a meeting with his boss. However, this only made the situation worse. Now, instead of giving take home quizzes like he has the whole semester, he gives a pop quiz at the beginning of every class; even when we have just had a test and have not gone over any info to quiz us on. I feel sorry for you if you have to take this guy. Even his boss told us, when we went to complain about Emanuel, that he does not care at all about our grades. How can someone call themselves a teacher if they don't care about their student's welfare or their grades. Every time I had a question about class I went to the math lab at main campus, because Emanuel refused to answer my questions. One day I asked him,after class, how to do something on the calculator, and he said,"Figure it out!" I thought that was his job, to answer my questions, evidently it is not. I don't understand why WKU pays this man. Whatever they pay him it is too much!

Ok, so we all know that math isn't the easiest course in the world. I, personally am terrible at math. I am a senior and had to take this course twice. I think Mr. Emanuel is a great teacher. He is difficult but he really challenges you, and if you put forth the effort you will do well. I worked my butt off to get a C in this class, but again Math is my worst subject. I appreciate Mr. Emanuel for his teaching style and I think he is hilarious. I recommend Mr. Emanuel!! Just remember, you take him, prepare to work. He does not take lightly to slackers.

If I were you, I would not take this class. In fact I had to audit this class and thank goodness I did because I would have gotten an F on my transcript. Before I audited this class, my life at Western was extremely difficult in my first semester because I had to study for his tests all the time. He thinks he is better than anybody else. The only thing he ever cares about is money, especially taking money from a student's paycheck! If I were you, stay away from this teacher!!! I repeat, do not take him! He is rude, creepy and always make fun of students who make simple mistakes on their work.

Mr. Emanuel is a good teacher, but he covers the material very fast. I am not that bad at math, but if I didn't understand something it was very hard to keep up. The first few tests are really easy, but they get harder. He assigns homework, but never takes it up. If you want a good grade, my advice is to do the homework. Do that, go to class, pay attention, and ask for help when you need it and you should do fine.

Oh yeah..Mr. Emanuel is pretty eccentric. He makes class fun sometimes tho.

Do not take this guy he thinks he is to good for those who cannot understand his highly arrogant significant im better than you intelligence level he has a cocky ego to him, tests are very HARD but gives take home quizzes to do you have to study for the tests and the material if you need math do not take him find someone who can help you and not call you out in class and gets right in your face if you dont understand him also he plays favorites badly id recommend someone else if i were you because he could care less he acts like he hates his job and is just there for a paycheck steer clear of him and his class find someone else, if you arent good at math take someone else who isnt arrogant to their students, very rude and hateful to all DO NOT TAKE HIM

This man was the only reason I didn't like my first year at Western. He was rude, creepy, played favorites, and was not compassion at all. His students are nothing more than the vision of his paycheck. If you struggle at math whatsoever stay away from this man.

First the Good-

-He will make sure you know the material.

-Before the exams, he offers to come in on Saturdays to help you if you need it.

-He copies and prints all the course information for he class and it only cost $25 at the bookstore.

Now the Bad:

-He goes very fast. Almost too fast to keep up with and he stands in front of what he has just written on the board so taking notes sometimes is difficult.

-If he asks you a question and you don't know the answer, he will stand in front of you until you say something. It is very creepy.

-He does not joke around with the exams. They are extremely hard. If you miss a class or if you are not doing the homework everynight, you will FAIL this class!!

-Overall, I am pleased, but I worked my butt off in this class and I spent a considerable amount of time in the learning center. If you are not afraid to ask for help then you will do just fine. Be perpared to work though- This class is not easy; however Lee "can" make it easier if you work hard and ask for help.

I hate math. I had to take intermediate algebra 3 times to get through it. Professor Emanule got me through it finally though. I liked his class. His test and quizzes are pretty fair. If I can give you one piece of advice it would have to be do the homework. He doesn't take it up but it will really help you out. He gets into teaching. Sometimes its kinda scary. He is kinda corny too. There were only 5 people in my class so he can pay lots of attention to you in classes like that since they are at the community college. I would take him for college algebra if his class weren't at 8 in the morning.

Lee is an interesting teacher. He realizes that math is a boring subject to many people, so he changes it up a bit. During lectures he paces endlessly around the room while explaining things and will get straight in your face in an instant, asking you a question or making a statement. He gave us some laughs and he made the classroom atmosphere a lot more informal. As long as you try, and get help from him or attend the study sessions you should be fine.

If your like me (not very good at math), you need an instructor that knows what their doing. I learned more about math in four months of Mr. Emanuel's class than I did in seven years of junior high and high school. His is very funny and extremely nice. Anytime I needed help with something, he was always willing to take the extra time to explain it to me. Overall, a great instructor and a great guy.

He has a huge liking for girls, and made me feel uncomfortable at times, but overall he made it pretty easy to understand, and was always willing to help you if you needed it. He comes in at night for a study session if you need some extra help. So he is a good teacher, but needs to lighten up on the staring at the girls.

If your a girl and don't like to be looked at like a piece of meat then don't take him, and if your a guy and don't want to be made fun of because of a question then don't take him. Overall his notes are the whole class and tries to make math fun but its math come on. His test are hard, and relativly long. If you can take another teacher.

Mr. Emanuel is very helpful and will get you through college algebra. He does however have a huge liking to young girls and allows them to call him "Lee". He does not stick to the attendance policy for the math department of missing 5 classes and you're out, so if you understand his class somewhat and don't have to go, you will be okay, for he stops taking roll after about the first 4 weeks. He gives absolutely no extra credit and he is quite intimidating at times and will park himself in front of you in the class, ask a question and remain there until you answer. All in all, he is a good guy, and he will get you through it.

I hate math but I like Mr. Emanuel. He is a good teacher and tries to help you out a lot. I wouldnt take a math class without him being my teacher. He is definately the best choice. I had him for both 100 and 116 and wouldn't have it any other way. Take him!

The class itslelf is pretty hard but with him he tries to help you out as much as possible. He will hold review sessions at night for his students and really tries to help you out if you want the help.

Mr Emanuel is a fantastic teacher. If you try, he's more than willing to help when you need it. If you make an effort in his class, there is no reason that you shouldn't pass it.

Good Professor overall. Tests are kinda hard if you don't study for them. but, easy class and easy professor. Recommend
