If you aren't very good at math, I suggest you don't take her. She is a lovely lady, and is willing to help but she goes really fast when teaching. Every math 116 class is the same at Western, same tests, homework, quizes. They are all done on the computer, the only difference is the teacher. So I suggest to pick a different teacher if you need to take math slow, but if you know what you are doing and just need a review, shes is the teacher for you!

Jean Thornton is probably the best math teacher I have ever had. She really takes the time to make sure her students understand the material with lots of examples. She gives take home tests, occasionally, and is probably one of the sweetest ladies I have ever met. Her class made me feel like I really could do math in college, and I would highly recommend her.

Professor Thornton is an awsome teacher. She is helpful and considerate. Yes, she goes a little fast, but if you ask her to re-explain something, she is more than willing to do so. I'm bad at algebra but was able to get an A in her class - all I had to do was do the work! If you get a chance, take her - she can help you if you are willing to help yourself.

The class is really easy and she is extremely helpful! she does multiple questions to help you understand something specific. She will work with you extra after class or office hours. Shes really nice and teaches college level math with grade school analogies so its easy to understand. quiz every week. and a test about every 2 weeks if i remember right. some questions get tricky.

Mrs. Thornton has such a great rep. at WKU or so I heard, well all I heard from the entire class this semester is how she doesnt relate to college kids enough. There are no breaks like bonus or anything. Homework dont even bother with as it's a waste of time, the study guides are good as they are similar to the exams. I thought she was kind of rude at times and grew in patient. I think her rep. has lost its "mojo" so to say.

I heard such great things about this lady I was thrilled to find a good solid math teacher. Her evaluations showed her to be a woman of her craft...well for me and much of my class there wrong. She is a sweetheart and will help you out in anyway. But she goes so fast, Im not sure she realizes this is a 116E section. I have her right now and much of the class talks about how she flies through material and gives quizzes wayyyy to much. This week we have two quizzes and a exam two days after the second quiz. No homework has to be turned in and she does take attendance. After 5 misses you must drop the course. Lastly, this course would be better if she had a even bigger heart and understood its a 116E section, bonus would be great like maybe for doing homework or something. Like I said shes sweet but needs to come down to a students level who struggles in math.

Mrs. Thorton is a great teacher! I would recommend her to everyone. She makes math easy to understand, even when you're as awful at it as I am. She moves through notes quickly, but doesn't mind re-explaining things if you ask. At the end of the semester, if you have perfect attendance, she adds 20 points on your final. Take her!

She goes over the quizzes the day before and the next day it is the exact same thing as the review only the numbers are changed. The tests are the exact same way. Notes are taken everyday and I can honestly say that I have learned but her tests and quizzes are a breeze, which is what your grade is entirely based on. She is always cheerful and has a warm personality.

Jean Thorton was a good teacher, however she went over the material really fast in class making it hard to keep up and understand. However, she gave us study guides for each test, including the final. These study guides helped a lot in preparing for the tests.

Mrs. Thornton is an amazing teacher. She really cares about her students and tries to make math easy for everyone. We had 12 quizzes and 5 exams including the final and she dropped our two lowest quiz grades. Be sure to study the study guides before each exam because the format is the same as the actual exam. I would definitely recommend Mrs. Thornton to anyone!

i hate math and i got an A in her class...she doesn't give extra credit...you WILL use the book....mandatory, cumulative final...lots of notes...but she makes the class pretty easy. You will also have to attend class everyday and take notes everyday. If you like going into class and knowing excalty what you're going to do that day, take her. You take about 13 to 14 quizzes throughout the entire class but she dropped 3 of ours. The tests are excalty like the review sheets she gives, she just changes the numbers. So if you go to class and study, you'll be fine. She made me actually like math! AWESOME teacher!

Mrs.Thornton is probably the best teacher you can get. The tests are really easy. You get a quiz every week and those are really easy too. She drops your lowest quiz grade. She is a very nice and understanding teacher. If you miss any classes you can catch up very easily. I highly recommend taking this class with her.

I hate math and I'm really bad at it. She is one of the best teachers I have had EVER! She explains everything in detail and doesnt leave out one step or detail. There is 12 quizzes and she drops the lowest 2. There are 4 tests and a final that is cumulative. If you have trouble with math I would definatly take her. She's awesome!!!

I had this class with a bunch of retards, (lets be honest, it was 096) and she was really patient when people asked a lot of questions. she will go over anything you ask her to and has pratice quizzes and tests that are like the actual quizzes and tests, only the numbers are changed. she doesnt take up homework and she always lets you out of class early. i HIGHLY recomend her to anyone!
