I took this class online and ended up dropping it with in the first week. She changed the due date of the first assignment just a few days before it was due. I got a 48/100 on the first home work assignment because I misspelled only 4 words, and stated "too many of one item". She is not very specific when it comes to what she expects. She emailed us and basically called us stupid but in a nice way because we had questions on where to find things on black board. I DO NOT RECOMEND TAKING HER CLASS AT ALL.

She is the absolute worst teacher I have taken in my life. She's crazy! She doesn't have a set schedule, she changes her mind on things all the time, and she is very unorganized and forgetful. She says very mean things to her students and she honestly doesn't care. It's amazing. I think she's bipolar. Every single student I've talked to that have taken this class agree 100%. Also, for her to be an English teacher, she has terrible grammar and spelling. I wouldn't recommend her for anyone. I don't care how good you are at English. She will bring so much stress to your semester and it's really not worth it. Save yourself the trouble.

This class was a major headache the entire semester. Though Ms. Dill is an extremely nice person with a strong love of cats (which she will talk about on a daily basis), she is extremely unorganized in every aspect of this class. Her teaching was scattered, assignments were lost, grading was inconsistent, and the list goes on and on. I worked extremely hard to get an A in this class. I would suggest you take someone else if possible.

This semester I took 18 hours of 300 and 400 level classes . I made an A in all of my other classes but this one. I could not follow along with what she had to say. She would be teaching us one thing and then start on another before we could even finish what she had started. She taught some type of phonics writing that none of the other english 302 teachers taught. I stayed mad the entire class period. She has NO CLUE how to use black board. Her left bars where most teachers have content, assignments, etc.. was like four lines long for each link. We never could find the homework she posted on blackboard. A couple of us had missing assignments (even though we were under the impression we had turned them in) she didn't even know what assignment it was, she could just tell us a day. I was always afraid to turn anything in to her because I thought she would lose it. I had to take this class for elementary education and we covered stuff that 8th grade students don't even learn. I honestly feel like I have no clue about grammar now because she confused the crap out of me. I would not advise my worse enemy to take her class!!!!

Ms. Dill was a very nice person, yet I don't believe that she should be teaching this course. This course was not helpful for my major, we basically just went over grammar all semester. She would randomly throw in assignments for something that has nothing to do with what she's discussing that day. Her grading strategy is wacky as well. One time she will assign 7 pages and only grade one, and usually the one that everyone has difficulty with. Other times she will give you a 100 for just turning it in or showing up to class that day. She will even extend deadlines for when homework is due. I would not recommend this class as it was very difficult to follow/understand.

Dr. Dill has to be one of the worst teachers I have ever taken. She scrambles through the material, and never really explains any of it. The tests all seemed confusing, and to me looked like they were thrown together last minute. She was so scatter-brained through the class that I am surprised the University even keeps her. You can tell she is intelligent, but as a teacher trying to get students to understand grammar, she needs A LOT of work. The only reason I got a B is because several in my class complained to the department head about her. I know she is usually the only one to teach this course, but by all means AVOID TAKING DR. DILL!

Dr. Dill is a nice lady, but there are a LOT of things that I do not like about her as a professor. She has the WORST eye contact that I've ever experienced as a student in my entire life, firstly. I know that may sound silly, but it really just affects my learning when she won't hardly look at a student. It gets ridiculous whenever someone in the class will be plainly raising their hand and someone has to say "so-and-so has a question, dr. dill" because she isn't looking at the class!
This class is extremely difficult. Before I took this class I used to say that I was a grammar nerd! The way that she teaches isn't very fluid, and it all seriously becomes a big jumbled mess towards test two or three. She cuts class early a LOT, even though she shouldn't in my opinion. The Old English test that we had to do was one of the biggest crock assignments I've ever done. It took HOURS. Ugh. She just sent us an email saying that out of her two classes, only FIVE MADE As.
So just know be prepared for this class...it's just overall a crappy one!

This is by far the worst teacher at WKU. She is mean, unwilling to give extra help, and can berely write a sentence without leaving out words. If you take this professor you will regret it. I am not sure how she is certified to teach a class because she is borderline retarded.

Gah.
This is most likely the worst class I have taken in college. Whenever we actually DID have class, not a lot was talked about. She FLEW through the information on tiny grammar rules and then we were expected to know it all for the extremely difficult tests. To give you a preview, here's what the night before turning in the final exam looked like: 10 of us from her class met up to complete the very long final, spending half of the time looking up extremely minute answers and the other half venting to each other how much we disliked the class.
I would strongly advise against taking this class.

OK so most of us haven't had grammar since high school and this lady seems to think that we all love it and practice it daily. If you are really good with grammar, and I mean really good, then this course shouldn't be a problem. If you're like me and you haven't had any grammar in like 6 years then it's tough!!! I went to class every single time and I still BARELY pulled off a C. Don't do it, spare yourself the stress.

She is very deconstructive with her comments on the papers. There is only 5 papers that are due throughout the semester. She allows the student to do as many rough drats as they want so she can help correct mistakes but when she grades the final copy she uses descriptions such as horrible material, poor, very poor and sad to describe the students work. She makes it impossible for the student to pass if they are not a science major. I feel that if someone had low self esteem she would really be harmful to their self esteem. Her tone in her comments are extremely rude and unprofessional. I would not recommend anyone taking this class.

Dr. Dill really seems to want to help her students do well. The tests are basically all analyzing sentences, and the information she covers is very useful. You have room for mistakes because she drops the lowest test grade (or 2 test grades) and some extra credit is available. Take Dr. Dill!

I took this class as a night class, and we only met about 5 or 6 times all semester. There were no tests, just 6 or 7 assignments due throughout the semester. The last 3 were due right at the end of the semester. The homework was difficult because the material presented in class did not really help to understand the homework. Going to the lectures seemed pointless because I didn't really get anything out of them.

The professor can seem intemidating by here posts on black board and in emails, but if you will take the time and go by to see her and let her look over you papers BEFORE, you turn them in it is realtivly easy to get As on you paper. The easiest way to getting in A out of the class is to just go and talk to her about you papers, she will read them point out errors and mistakes and offer suggestions that If you FOLLLOW them you will almost sertianly get in A on the paper. It just takes hiking up to Cherry Hall to get that A.

This class is pretty much a joke. It's all grammar, which is why the only pre-requisite is ENG 100. The main difficulty with the course comes from the instructor. Her lectures are extremely disjointed and ramble about endlessly, which really grates on your nerves when you're stuck in the class for 3-4 hours at a time. Since she goes back and forth so much, you never really know when she's moving on or when she's just rehashing the same stuff over and over, and it's a battle to stay awake and sane through the whole process. Also, there's no required text for the summer class, but if you've never had grammar before she advises you to go to the copy store and get some stupid packet they have from her that is NOT worth the $10 they charge for it.
Then there's the tests. You get extra credit for finding errors, but if you make a mistake, SHE TAKES POINTS AWAY! Either way, this doesn't need to be a 300 level course. When you make a B on a test without EVER looking at the material it covers, then there's something wrong. And remember how I said there's no text required? Pick up the latest copy of the MLA handbook anyways. You will need it.
Unless you happen to be an English major (in which case, I feel for you), avoid this class at all costs!

Dr. Dill is an interesting teacher to say the least. She is a bit crazy but you'll learn how to adapt to her soon enough. The class is completely grammar and sentence structure. If grammar is difficult to you, I wouldn't reccomend taking this class. If it comes fairly easy to you, you should be fine. She gives extra credit for her typos and passive voice verbs. The final is a take home MLA test. If you don't spend enough time on the test, you very well could fail the course. Only 7 people out of 20 passed in my class so that sould tell you something. Overall it's an ok class which requires a lot of studying.

Be careful. If grammar does not come naturally to you, do not take this course. You will probably fail. If you do not struggle with grammar, Dr. Dill's class will probably be the easiest choice. It is incredibly boring and she confused herself so much that after she gave us the rules I quit listening. She cancels class a lot and moves things and seems to be pretty lazy. I think she may be a hypochondriac but if anything that just means she'll cancel class more. You will not learn much, but if grammar is easy for you, take the easy A. Her tests are alright, and if you find a grammatical error or a typo she gives you extra credit. She also gives you a point of extra credit for every passive voice verb you find. No papers or assignments. Only tests. Don't take this class if grammar is difficult for you. There are so many people in my class who are failing. Take Eckard instead.

NOTE: Do not take this class if you don't already have a number of science related papers, such as formal lab reports, lit. reviews, etc. This class is EASY, but ONLY if you already have some of the papers written, and are knowledgeable about your major. There are 5 papers, plus a resume, essentially you have a paper due every 2 weeks. So if you don't have some papers already written this class could be rough. It is a web course, but you MUST go speak to her and let her review your paper before submission, it's pretty much the only way you'll get an A. I had 2 lab reports to use, and a literature review already written, so I really only had to write 2 papers. This class is cake, if you got the stuff written, and have time to consult with her every couple of weeks.

Dill changed her syllabus halfway through the semester. She also said we would not need the book anymore that we had just bought BRAND NEW at the beginning of the semester. She is nice, doesn't take attendance, and doesn't know anyone's name. Class is tedious, and she gave us the New York Times every day of class. I thought the assignments were pointless and uninteresting, and so was the class. I was glad I had text messaging, because in class this was all I did.
About the teacher: she contradicts herself often and sometimes is as unclear about labelling and diagramming sentences as the students are. She doesn't explain herself well, and while she's nice and attempts entertainment, it is most of the time a lost cause.

I found this teacher to be extremely difficult to work with. By submitting papers online things can be lost- this happened to my first paper, even though I had recieved a confirmation by the teacher. I also tried to contact this teacher for help as well and was written back (in a rude manner) to make sure I am using my book. Changes were not posted on the blackboard site, as said in the beginning, nor were my grades. I had to ask numerous times for my grades. Also, if you went to her office during her office hours she was not there- at least this was my case. She will edit a first draft of your paper but even if you fix those corrections that does not mean you will do well on that paper. In fact she might mention that you had not looked at her notes even though you had and corrected what her notes had said to. I felt that this class was a waste of my money and time. And I strongly feel that this teacher was not a help at all.

Professor Dill is a piss poor teacher. I don't understand how she even has a job. She does not explain the material well at all. Her philosophy, which she actually told me, is that some people will get the material and some won't and there is nothing she can do about it. Well, that's all well and good, but then she will give out tests for thing that aren't even covered in class such as MLA style paper writing, grammar, etc. This is a horrible class and unless you enjoy being constantly confused and making bad grades, STAY AWAY!

I didn't think this was a terribly difficult course. Dr. Dill is a wonderful teacher. If you come to class, and especially if you participate, you will do fine. You MUST attend and you SHOULD participate if you want to pass. Be a vocal student; that will help tremendously. If your answer on a test is logical and makes sense, even if it doesn't agree with her answer, she'll work with you and probably give you the credit. I'm very glad I took Dr. Dill. And another piece of advice - if you can, take the class in the summer. Those of us who had it over one month seemed to have an easier time of it compared to those who took it over an entire semester.

Dr. Dill is the worst professor I have had in my four years at Western. Not only isthe course material difficult, she is a horrible teacher. Her style of teaching includes telling stories about her cats and talking to the blackboard. If any help is requested she treats you like an idiot for having a question. She never grades things on time and is completely random in what is correct in the class and what is not. We did not have class for over 1/3 of the class meetings. It was an 8:00 and she would just not show up and gave no notice. Her tests cover things that she does not go over in the class and the textbook is a workbook she made up herself and offers no explanation. She is a horrible teacher. Take this class only if required and try to find someone else who teaches it!

This class is a waste of time. True, you don't have to go to class, and true, all you have to do is write 7 essays and do a presentation the last week of school about one of your papers...Not hard, right? Wrong...Unless you are a biology major. That is the only subject matter she is truly interested in. If you are a CS major, forget it. She's extremely biased if she doesn't like your paper topic, and don't ever expect her to be there when her office hours begin. This class was such a pain to fool with, I wish that I would have taken a regular English and actually go to class on a regular basis.

Being a science major, it's hard to make time for an English class. In this course, you only go to class the 1st and last week! All you have to do is fit in 7 science related papers over the semester. She will review them for you and tell you what to correct, give it back, and let you turn it in with corrections for an A. Great class for science majors.
