Dr. Johnson is a very kind, very smart, and very helpful professor. That being said the class is difficult. He's more than willing to help and does offer extra credit. He also curves his exams. But the class is still very hard Study hard and ask for help and you'll do fine. .Side note, he has a great Australian accent.

Johnson is a very cool professor and person. Most professors are not approachable and are full of themselves, not him. You have three lecture exams which are essay exams, they are tough. The reason being that he has new professor syndrome, meaning he still doesnt understand how to write exams. The material on the exams is what makes the course difficult at times, he pulls information that really isnt herpetology based it is more conceptual about ecology or evolution. The lab meets one day a week, study early and you will be fine. He also goes a little overboard in lab with making you learn habitats and distributions, families and species is fine. Overall take this class, why?: Johnson is easy going, very kind, funny, takes you on fun trips to catch herps and he is a very intelligent man.

Dr. Johnson could be one of the most laid back professors on WKU's campus, but don't let that fool you. I found this class much more difficult than expected. He will lecture the entire class period, hardly ever letting you out early. The worst part of this class were the tests. They are different from any other teacher's tests, and can be really hard. However, he does curve the grades if they are really bad. I would advise not skipping classes because he has pop quizzes over reading material. He is a really nice guy and is extremely willing to help out and see you during office hours or after class. If you are willing to put forth the effort and are not shy about asking questions, you will do fine.

For a 100 level course, taking Johnson will definitely challenge you. I actually ended up learning alot in this class in the end. His slides were very vague and here's where it got tough...His TESTS. they were torture. all comprehensive multiple choice questions (paragraph long) All i can say for you is good luck! You got to study your butt off in this class if you want to do good. & even though attendance isn't required, i wouldn't recommend you skipping bc he gives pop quizzes over the previous readings. Johnson's a very nice guy & he knows his stuff don't get me wrong BUT his tests are out of this world hard!!! Hopefully for your sake, he has improved the test a little bit. Let me give you some hope for you natural smart kids who are good at applying what u learn to different concepts, you will do fine. For you ones who aren't good at application questions, take someone else... I hear Huskey's tests are much easier.

I liked Dr. Johnson he was a relaxed guy and was always willing to help out students. He teaches the first half of the course, classical genetics. Dr. Johnson gives you two exams which are about 36 questions (multiple choice). The lab is easy and kind of fun, the lecture is almost all problem solving and can be difficult. Do the assigned problems and ask questions and you will be fine.
