I really enjoyed this professor

Mr. Downing is a wonderful teacher. He makes it very easy for you to understand. I have been out of school for sometime and Mr. Downing was very understanding and supportive and helped me to find confidence in myself to pass this class. He is truly a great person.

Dero was an awesome teacher! He broke all of the problems down into pieces making it a whole lot easier to undestand. He went at a very steady pace. He didn't try to cover too much information at a time in a class period. He gave homework grades, exam grades, and a couple of "quiz" grades that were a lot like homework. He never took attendence, but his class isn't one that you would want to skip simply because he was such a great teacher and he was such a sweet man. I wish he taught more math courses, if he did, I would definitely take him again! I would refer him to anyone that needs math 055 or 096. I have already referred him to many many of my classmates/friends. He also doesnt require you to get the text book. He prints out everything you need.

Mr. Downing is a wonderful, very easy to understand instructor. He makes learning very easy! He makes sure every one understands before moving on to the next step. I highly recommend Mr. Downing!!

This guy is AWESOME!! He only teaches 096 and 055 but if he taught 116 I would take him again. I've had him for two semesters and he is great. I got an A in the class both times. He is understanding and very easygoing. He makes sure everyone understands how to do the problems. Take him!! You won't regret it. He is the best at the Community college.

You may or may not need a book. We only worked out of our book like twice the whole semester. He makes up his own problems. Mr. Downing teaches in a very simplistic manner. If you have difficulty with algebra take him. You will learn it for sure. You will be amazed at how easy it actually is. Mr. Downing is very nice, understanding and easy to work with. If you get the chance to take him, I highly reccommend Mr. Downing!!!!

I've had Mr. Downing for two semesters in a row now and will hopefully have him for a third. He has been the best teacher Ive had at wku! He gives very good study guides that are very helpful on the tests. He is willing to stay after class anytime that you need extra help. If you need to take math 100 or lower I would definitely suggest Mr. Downing!

I took Mr. Downing's class at South Campus. He is a great teacher that has a heart for people that are not main-stream college students. He would stay after class to help those that needed extra help. His philosophy on algebra is that the majority of students are taking the class because it is a requirement (not because they will use it) and tries to make it as painless as possible. He gives great study guides for the tests. There were a total of five tests plus the final and if you are willing to apply yourself (you will need to apply yourself in any algebra class anyway), you will be glad that you took his class.
