Hemali is awesome! She is very very helpful. She welcomes you in her office anytime and will help you with whatever you need! Some people complain about her accent but if you take many Chem classes then you are going to have to get used to Indian accents. Overall the accent isn't bad. She has a sense of humor too. You need to go to class in order to get the material. Overall she is a great professor, especially compared to Snyder who I had for Organic I.

One of the best teachers I've had in college. She's always available to help and offers extra credit throughout the semester. Exams are fairly difficult but she makes sure everyone is prepared. The only reason some people don't like her is because they're not willing to try. But, after all, it is a 300 level course so you can't expect to do nothing and get by. I would recommend her to anyone that has to take organic chem.

Dr. Hemali is very different from the teachers I am used to. It is hard to decide if I love her or hate her as a teacher. She definately knows her stuff and almost begs you to come to her office if your having any trouble. Many days she will stay in her office past 8 pm and is always helping people. Organic chem is a hard class and her tests are very hard. quizzes can also be a beast if you dont study hard for them. If you are willing to put in the hours to learn the material you should do fine, she offers extra credit on all her tests and if the entire class does awful she will curve the grade. She can be hard to get used to because her sarcasm can seem very mean, just remember that she doesnt hate you no matter what she says. She will try her best to get everyone through with an A or B. the final is cummulative but there 50 extra credit points on it. If you can handle the hateful sarcasm then you will do great in her class, dont get discouraged with bad test grades, you drop the low one anyways and even if you make a low c on all of them you can still somehow pull a B+ or A- in the class.

Her accent was killing me! She is so freaking rushing in her every lecture, and makes mistakes all the time in lecture. If you wanna learn things for further education, and I believe you do because this is a major class, you should not take Hemali's Oganic I and II. She is not qualified to teach chemistry. Try Snyder or Zhang, they are better. Snyder is awesome, even he is a little harder, but you are gonna use those knowledge in the future. DO NOT TAKE HEMALI's!!!!

Dr. Rathnayake is a difficult professor to describe. She is a fairly nice lady that is very willing to help her students. She is extremely helpful out of class and will go over an entire chapter with you in private if you want her to. With that being said, its hard to understand her sometimes (not as hard as other professors) but she really tries to teach you the subject. 80% of my class got an A and nobody got below a C in the class. She posts OSL assignments that are optional and will be extra credit if you are on the D/C border. Exams are what you expect--lots of reactions. She does seem a little too sarcastic sometimes, but it never gets out of hand. I really liked her class and I can say that after taking her, I know Organic Chemistry.
