Talked too much about his opinion of US government and all it was doing wrong...last time I checked he chose to come live here and this isn't a political science class...made fun of some people in class.....tests extremely hard to study for.....

Had mr. stayings in the spring semester. Less wordiness about life and get down to business would of been great. I would not recommend his class.

Really great teacher! Throughout the semester he gives you problem solving quizzes. His tests are basically a mix of the quizzes and vocabulary. I made flash cards over the vocabulary and studied back over my quizzes and made A’s. Also, I didn’t waste my money on purchasing the text book because everything on the test he discusses in class. Show up to every clas, take awesome notes and study over them; you’ll do great!

Mr. Stayning is an interesting teacher that likes to have in class discussions. I learned a lot in this class and will take him again for micro econ. If you do the work, show up for class, and pay attention you will do well in his class.

Mark is a pretty good teacher. I took him and we had class once a week on Monday nights. He made the class pretty fun and easy to understand. If you apply yourself and study some you will do just fine in his class.

Mark Staynings presents a class with information that is very useful in everyday life. You must take notes and there are several quizs ( open note & closed note) though out the 16 week class. There are papers to write & his test can be challenging, so you must put some effort into studing the material. He is a very good instructor who makes it known that he is available to help you in any of the material you do not understand. Mr Staynings keeps plenty of class discussion going on, so the class time goes by quickly.

You have to go to class to understand. He is a good teacher, but he flys right by you if you act like you don't care. So, if you want a good grade just listen and take a calculator with you. You will have a about 14 quizzes and three test. Overall it is a very interesting class....you will learn real world things. If you like soccer he will like you.

On the very first day of class Mr. Staynings spoke of how he gave many students failing grades, and how many people passed with D's in his class. He was very negative and spoke of how hard the class would be. He was very very inconsiderate in how to address non-tradtional students and didn't care if your day was filled with a fulltime job, a family or if you really had good intentions of passing his class. Imagine going to class with high expections of doing well and this could be the class you needed to graduate. He need to evaulate himself and stop being so about himself and think about how hard it was for him when he was in the same shoes. I would advise nobody to take his class he is about self.

Mark is a great teacher. I've had to work with him one on one several times with some of the problems and he was always very encouraging and willing to help. A book is not mandatory but if you go to class and take notes you will do great. We had a lot of debates on current events which was fun. I would take any class he teaches.

Mark Stayning is the worst teacher. A text book is not required but you are require to know definitions for the test, that he does not give. They also have to be word for word what he espects. His test are all essay and he grades them harshly. I do not recommend him for an econ. class. Half of our class had to retake the class.

Mr. Staynings is an awesome teacher. He allows you to think out loud when he asks questions and encourages you to look at a situation from every side. I can honestly say this is the only class I have ever taken that I looked forward to and wasn't bored. I would highly recommend taking Mr. Staynings for Economics. However, if you aren't committed to learning and you are just looking for any easy A without doing any work, look elsewhere.

If you go to class and take notes the class is a breeze. I loved his attitude and teaching style. Mark is very proud of his ability to teach his students and will do whatever he can to help you out. Last semester he was by far my favorite teacher and once I graduate I only hope that I can teach economics as well as him.

One of the best college professors I have had. He brings a different perspective to economics due to the fact that he is from the U.K. He is great on not overwhelming you with too much information. I never felt like I had to cram for a test, he is that GOOD! I would recommend his tremendous organizational, and teaching skills to any crappy professor (not to name any names Phillip Hanley). If you have the opportunity, you would be very wise to take this wonderful teacher.

Those bad evaluations are ludicrous. I don't know where they are coming from. I found Mark to be very easy professor. Although attendance isn't mandatory the class is so much fun that I only missed two days. I must admit that he is a smart ass and will make fun of you but just take it with a grain of salt because that's just how he is. If he's a smart ass to you just be one back and he'll get a kick out of it. My class had 3 tests, 14 quizzes, and 9 current event articles. All the quizzes are problem solving. At first he will give you an open-note quiz over the subject and then a close-note one a couple of class meetings later. The articles are super easy and take about 30 minutes to do. For our class he dropped our 4 lowest quizzes and our 3 lowest articles. He has extra credit questions on each test. The test are fairly easy. They consist of about 12-13 definitions (he only counts 10 so you can get some wrong), the problems on the tests are exactly like the ones you get on the quiz, and you have to draw graphs on the tests but they are easy because they are exactly like the ones you do in class. As long as you attend class and take half-ass notes you'll do fine. In my opinion this was an easy class and I actually looked forward to getting a good laugh every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, even if it meant waking up to be there at 10am.

Mark is a great teacher. He works one on one with his students if they have any problems. The class can get big debates going on. This is Mark's favorite part of class. Throughout the class you do articles every other week and you take approximately 4 tests. The material can be overwheming at times but if you go to class and take good notes, you will be fine. You will have to study and learn from example.

Forget what the negative posts say. Those guys are obviously just some politically correct wusses. Mark's great. He incorporates real world issues into the class and makes the class a forum for econ applied to the real world. Isn't college supposed to be about getting the student ready for the real world? Take Mark for a lil dose of reality... He's a guy who won't sugarcoat everything.

I would not let him teach my dog how to sit. This is the worst teacher I have ever had. He likes to make fun of everybody and act like his class is fun fun but on test days he trys to be Mr. serious and it makes the class every hard because you never know what to expect. If you don't mind a teacher cutting you down in front of the entire class and making you feel stupid than Staynings is your guy.

I do suggest do not take this teacher the reason why if you want a teacher that is mean and not there to help go right ahead. He is not a good teacher at all.
