I really enjoyed Ms. Noffsinger's class, which is saying a lot, since I have been dreading taking my speech course since I enrolled at WKU. She does have high expectations of her students, but she is very encouraged and understands how public speaking can be incredibly intimidating to many people. I had no worries about the grade I would receive in the class for the simple reason that I was willing to do the work. You are expected to prepare for your speeches and to have enough information to cover the minimum amount of time or else points will be docked. Really, though, that is not a ridiculous requirement for speech professors to make of their students. Ms. Noffsinger is a very sweet lady, but she will hold you accountable for doing the assigned work. The class I had with her only met once a week, so attendance was a big issue. I don't know how much she docks for missing once, but if you think that will be a problem, I wouldn't recommend taking this once-a-week course. If you are looking for a Speech class that will actually teach you the skills you need as a public speaker, take this course!

I really liked her. Attendance very important. Participate in class, read chapters assigned, take all notes and you will do fine in class. Not a boring teacher. I definitely recommend her.

Ms. Noffsinger is a good teacher and is satisfied with your work as long as you try and are somewhat prepared. I would recommend taking her if you need this class. =)

She is a nice lady, she doesn't communicate alot outside of class. However you can totally make up speeches and still get an A like I did. You have four speeches three exams (easy) and a small paper. Shes boring in lecture but otherwise a good class.

This class is based on three exams and four speeches. The last speech you must write a short paper over. She grades veryyy easy and you don't have to do much throughout the semester. However, she rambles about bull shit that know one cares about and she also tends to make you do rather pointless activities to understand concepts that a 5 year old knows. The exams are easy usually 50 questions with multiple choice, short answer and fill in the blank. DON'T buy the book as she tells you what will be on the exam. Shes not very down to earth she is just well she lacks a personality. Lastly, don't worry about speaking in this class...she grades based on whether you read off of note cards word for word, and eye contact, very easy.

Mrs. Noffsinger is a GREAT teacher to have for comm 145! I had taken this class a couple times prior and always dropped within a few weeks....In her class you will have 4 speeches, no final and only one test (midterm) I was completely comfortable in her class and she was always there if you needed her for anything. She is the best teacher I have had in the 4 years I have been here! Highly recommend Paula Noffsinger! Oh, and she's a part time professor therefore she isn't as strict as other professors... You will learn a lot and enjoy doing so!

Ms. Noffsinger is a great instructor. Her class is extemely easy and she makes very comfortable. All you have to do is follow the outline that she gives you for your speech and stay within the time limits. You don't have to turn in an outline or anything before your speech. There is a mid-term over the notes, but she helps you out on it. I would definately take her if you want an easy A!!

I thought I would hate this class but it ended up being one of my favorites. This is a night class but you do not always stay the whole time especially in the beginning. It just depends on long speeches take. I do not think she grades that hard but just make sure you follow the format and you will be fine. Her main thing is organization. You will have to give around 6 speeches and one is with a group. I thought that midterm was really easy because she told exactly what was going to be on there. Just study that. The final is a speech and its not bad. She is such a good teacher and she is very nice!! I would HIGHLY reccommend her for a teacher!!

she is more of a acting coach!! she makes the students teach the class! speeches seem easy but she doesn't show what she takes points off for or how much! confusing makes me really stressed out about speeches cuz i don't know if it's good enuff! fun but doesn't have a good balance of teaching method! on the mid-term (only test) is all fill in the blanks and maybe one essay, she does NOT prepare well! only tells everyone to read chapters 1-11 within a week! speeches must reach the time limit or else it could bring you down a letter grade! i always got A's in speeches in high school not B's!!!

Mrs. Noffsinger has high expectations of her students. She is a high school teacher by day, so she expects more of her college students than many professors do. She won't accept less than your best and will grade you strictly. Be sure to get to know her and she will be understanding. The attendance policy is awful though! If you missed more than ONCE, you lost 30 points! If you're willing to put your heart into your speeches and attend class regularly (it's only once a week), then this is the professor for you. Oh, and there is a group project, but it's really no big deal. STUDY for the midterm - it is surprisingly difficult.

Mrs. noffsinger appears to be a great teacher UNTIL you get her mid-term. dont get me wrong, she's an easy grader, will sit down and explain an assignment to you if you dont understand parts, but the mid-term completely threw me off. Over all i really did like her, she was laid back and enjoyed teaching. as long as your a good test taker and actually read the book when she tells you too, than you'll do fine. -al-

From what I understand about the other professor's that teach this course, this is definitely the best way to go. This class does not require a writing assignment like the others do, and the teacher doesn't grade speeches all that hard. There are 5 speeches all together at increasing lengths that you must give. The text of your final speech IS your final, so there really isn't a final per se. There is a short midterm that you need to study for b/c the questions are obscure stuff from the reading. You must come to class everytime unless you get it excused through her. It can be alot of fun if you let it, I definitely recommend it.
