Additional Comments |
Guthrie is a decent teacher, but she is very bias when grading papers. If she disagrees with your thesis or opinion you WILL get at most a D on your papers, even if you have supporting context to prove you point. With the three papers being 45% of your grade you will have a difficult time achieving an A or B in the class. I have never been judged so harshly when writing a paper in ANY class I've ever taken. She gives you no guidelines in writing your papers, but if you don't write it the way she wants, you will not pass. If you choose to ask her about why you received the grade you did on your paper, she will come up with BS, at the same time become very aggravated. Her response will consist of you visiting the writing center which did absolutely nothing in helping me bring up my grade. About 75% of the people that I'm taking the class with are in the same situation. the other 25% being English majors or hand picked favorites. I have always been a proficient writer, and by taking this class she basically shit on all the self confidence I've developed in writing. Her test and projects are easy to receive an A on, but it doesn't matter due to her unfair grading on papers.
