I do not recommend this professor. He will not help you unless you have time to go to his office hours which most of us work so it makes it hard. He keeps going ahead in notes where you are for example in chapter 5 when taking chapter 3 test. He does not give you feedback at all. I had to miss a class for my grandfathers funeral and was very inconsiderate and made taking the make up quiz more of a pain than it should be. I'm only 3 weeks away from the final and i just want out of his class.

Yan's dialect is difficult to get used to at the beginning but it is bearable. This class is not hard to get an A in if you understand the material and pay attention in class. I haven't taken 120 yet, but I've heard that he doesn't prepare you very well for 120. But I did learn alot in his class. If you want an A in chem, take Bangbo. Oh yeah--lots of extra credit too!

Dr. Yan can be hard to understand, but if you pay attention and ask questions when you don't understand, he will help you. He is really nice and actually has a sense of humor, but most people just don't like the class because they don't pay attention. He has a lot of in class assignments, quizzes, and homework assignments on blackboard. If you study the tests are easy, but if you don't it can be hard to figure out on the spot. If you've had chemistry in high school, you're good to go. And, by the way, it gets really....really....boring in there.

Dr. Yan is a little hard to understand but he has powerpoints and does a lot of things on the board. The tests are really hard but he does so much extra stuff like in class assignments, homework, and quizzes that you would really have to not do any work at all to not pass this class. I got a A on the first test and C's and D's on all the rest but because i went to class everyday and i did the homework I easily pulled off a B in the class. I would recommend Dr. Yan.

Fairly hard teacher, however there are many free points if you try. he will also help you as much as he possibly can, if you ask for it!!
