Dr. Johnson is a decent teacher, but she seems kind of feather-brained. Any time we have a question, she has to look up the answer, and she claims that this level of Biology is simple stuff that she has forgotten. Although she may not be the most knowledgeable professor in the department, her class is easier than all of the others from what I hear. She gives study guides, but the questions can be somewhat vague. Attendance is not mandatory, but she puts extra credit questions on the tests about things we do in class. She also locks the door, so if you're late, you're not getting in. If you have to email her about something, do it a few days in advance because she can be slow to reply. I had an issue with one of my tests grades (she graded it with the wrong key) and it took over a week to get her to finally remember to check my test against the other keys. She was nice and helpful, admitting to the error. She just kept forgetting to fix it.

Dr. Johnson was a great and accommodating professor. Professors usually don't teach labs but this was a winter term course. She let us hand in late work for full or partial points. The daily quizzes were easy and she went over what was on them before she gave them to us. This is an easy class. Attendance is VERY important. Go to the labs and you should have no problem getting an A.

Dr. Johnson is a great woman and very compassionate about her students, don't get me wrong. However, this is her downfall being a teacher who is supposed to be teaching a pre-medical/vet/etc class. She tries to answer everyone's questions in the middle of lecture, EVEN if that takes 15 minutes of searching for the correct one. She also answers questions to students who aren't paying attention...its a waste of class time which is valuable to students who want to do well on pre professional exams.
Her tests are a joke and extremely easy (come straight from the notes). Furthermore, she tries to avoid any in-depth analysis of the material. (maybe this is because of the class, not her). However, due to the fact she wastes time in class, we were 5 chapters behind in the material we were supposed to cover.
The book is required by the syllabus, but in reality, its not if you just want to get an A in the class. However, if you want to learn what you need for the MCAT, etc, you have to read the book because, trust me, it explains the material more efficiently and much more in depth than she does.
However, outside of all this, she is a nice woman, very educated in her field, and cares about her students...sorry for the controversial review =)

This class was not an easy class, but it was not hard either. Dr. Johnson knows what she is teaching and is very open to help you if help is required. The test were mostly labeling and explaining diagrams, but every single thing is discussed in depth in class. Not the easiest class since honors, but she is an extremely nice, sweet, funny proffesor. I really would recommend her. I had a great experience and I know the material.

Dr. Johnson is very nice but she makes this course into a baby course. She has these dumb online homework assignments you have to do that don't help you. Her lectures are so boring its insane and alot of her exam material has information not covered. The final is cumulative, but she is really a sweet person who will go out of her way to help you in any shape or form. Overall: C teacher

Dr Johnson is a wonderful woman to work with. I have not had biology since my freshman year of high school, and she was more than willing to help me. For those who have taken AP Biology it was mostly review. Test are a hodge-podge of multiple choice, fill in the blank, listing, and identification. Small amounts of homework on blackboard. Overall a decent class if you put forth the effort for the grade. As an honors class we had about 30 students in there.

This was a web course and it was by far the most difficult class I have taken since I was at WKU (in class and web!)! She never posts grades, the test are HARD and I have no idea wher she got the questions, she never replies to your emails, you are pretty much in it all alone! I emailed her many times and never once got a reply! I am a 4.0 student and I was lucky to get a 70% on her tests! Im warning SHE IS AWFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This class was very easy. I would show up on test days only and I came out with a B. Her exams were all multiple choice, and the book is online. There's some extra credit available, and it's really easy. No attendence policy, and there is some homework, but not a lot, and it wasn't hard. Her whole class is pretty much on blackboard.

Dr. Johnson is one of the best professors I have had at WKU. She did an excellent job at presenting the information to us. One of my favorite aspects of the course was the online textbook. It made the course much more enjoyable, in my opinion. Dr. Johnson's test were moderate in difficulty, you have to study for them. Luckily, she makes the information so accessible that it's not extremely hard to study for her exams. I suggest Dr. Johnson for General Biology or any science course that she is teaching!

Dr. Heather Johnson is the best professor that I have had since I've been at Western. Her class is easy and there are a lot of extra credit opportunities. Even though attendance isn't mandatory, you still need to show up because she gets all of the exam (scantron) questions from her notes and gives extra credit usually when class attendance for that day is low. There are five quizzes that are online, but you get to take them as many times as you want. The book is online, too, but she summarizes what it states and only picks out certain facts (often skipping sections). As long as you show a little effort, this class should be a breeze! I had an A+ all semester!

I never saw Heather Johnson the whole semester. We had a graduate student instead. The virtual labs were pretty self explanatory and the in-class labs were't too bad either. We had a quiz every week over the previous week's in-class lab. I am not a science/biology whiz by any means but I still did real good.

This class is AWESOME! It's not required that you come to class, but you *want* to. If you come, Ms. Johnson tells you everything you need to know. the "book" is online, but once again, if you go to class, she leaves out HUGE chunks from the reading, and saves you a lot of time. she also gives you 1-2 bonuses that will be on the test, in class, as a reward for coming. Plus, she's an attractive woman, for those guys that need a "reason" to show up ;) haha.
*i definitely recommend her*

Dr. Johnson is such a nice lady and makes class interesting to those who come. She also gives you the answers to the bonus questions on tests if you come to class on the right day. There is soo much extra credit and the class is SOOO easy as long as you go to class. All the material is online, but there's a lot of it and during class she only goes through the important stuff, so you don't have to waste time memorizing the things you don't need to know for the tests. She gives you tons of time to get things done and is really pleasant and helpful if you are having any trouble with anything. I would highly recommend her!

Just go to class every time and you should be fine. Do what she tells you to do and study for the quizzes the night before. It's not super easy, but it's not difficult if you do what's expected of you. I barely got an A, but I also tended to forget about assignments until the last minute. Don't procrastinate and make sure you know what you're doing on the on-line labs.

Her tests are fairly easy if you go to class and study the night before. Great class-I learned a lot!

Not too bad of a class. DeHart's TA Brittany Sutherland taught the class, we never saw DeHart. Sutherland was really cool though and helped you out. We did a lab every week and we usually only took 1-1 1/2 hours. All the material is on the web and you have to read and print stuff out every week. There is a little quiz at the beginning of every class over last week's lab and the current week's homework. They can be hard, but overall not too bad. The final was mulitple choice but she gives you a review.

You need to study pretty hard...you never know which questions will be selected and it makes it kinda hard since such a broad amount of material is covered in each section. Dehart is really nice though, I missed an in-class quiz once because I totally messed up my schedule and she understood and let me make it up. This class can be taken almost entirely on line. Your text book is on the web. She lectures in class but the lecture is her basically reading the material. If you miss class you are not missing anything. The exams are pretty easy if you study. You MUST study. Go to class the day before the exam and listen to the review and you will know exactly what is on the test. The online quizes can be taken until you pass them so you have multiple tries. She is not a very friendly lady but if you don't go to class it doesn't really bother you.
