Additional Comments |
A lot of people in my class did not like Dr. Green at all, and I know she has gotten other bad evaluations, but I really enjoyed her. The classes were mosly discussions, but I liked that because they were less boring than lecture classes and it makes you actually think for yourself, which is more helpful when you are required to do that in the future. She did provide a lot of frustrating criticism on papers, but it ended up being helpful to me when I asked her what she meant exactly. I know some people recieved bad grades on papers and she could be harsh if they turned in a bad paper, but she gave us the opportunity to rewrite any or all papers, so there was really no excuse. She just expects a lot from her students, being a Columbian grad herself, but if you spend some time in her office she is really helpful. I even missed a week when my grandpa was in the hospital and she let me turn in the research paper late. Be prepared to write and come up with intelligent ideas. The final was great though because she only asked us to write a 2 page essay about why we chose to be an English major. One more thing, if you tend to miss a lot of classes, I wouldn't take Dr. Green because she will give a failing grade if you miss more than 6 unexcused
