Additional Comments |
For anyone interested in Children's Theatre, this class is a must-have. Carol obviously really cared about the subject, and the majority of the coursework was very hands-on. (The final was directing a scene from a children's theatre play and appearing in two others, and we went to two schools and worked with kids throughout the semester.) There is a LOT of material to cover in this class, and it all got a little insane towards the end of the semester. There aren't tests, and the reading and writing are light - 10 children's plays and written reviews of each, and a final proposal - but there is simply SO MUCH going on in the class that it ends up deserving every bit of that upper-level status.
Students who have confidence in their directing skills and set aside plenty of time outside of class to complete their group work will do best here.
