This class is rather difficult, so if you want an easy A, it's probably not a good class to take. However, I really enjoyed the class overall. There was one midterm which was hard, and he didn't really explain it that well beforehand so I wasn't sure what to study, but I still got a B on it. Almost every week there is a one-page paper (single-spaced) over an article we had to read in the book. As long as it was succinct as possible and very structured, it was pretty easy to get a decent grade. These did take up a great deal of my time, however. The final was a ten-page paper (to the line, double-spaced) over a book we had to read. It's a good idea to start reading this book soon, maybe even before he actually talks about it, to make sure there is enough time to complete the assignment. I spent many, many hours on this paper, but I ended up getting an A in the class for my hard work. Overall, I really enjoyed this class. Dr. Cobane is a great man, and I'm really glad I got to know him. He made the material very interesting, and even though attendance wasn't necessarily required, and it was an 8:00 class, I did not skip one class. I would definitely recommend this class as long as you are willing to put in some hard work.
