This class is very easy to do, it just takes a lot of time. There are many small assignments, a couple book reviews, and the final is a Literacy Focus Unit. Sitting in class was sometimes a bit boring. But overall, not too bad.

This course was really easy and the knowledge acquired could have probably been done in a seminar. You have a homework assignment most nights and in class lectures are spent going over the chapter you were supposed to read the night before. She talks to you like you are in third grade and although she says you can talk to her about grades you recieve, it is very unlikely she will take your complaints into in sort of consideration.

Dr. Maples assigns 10 point assignments nearly every day to be turned in the next class period and also several big projects to complete during the semester. If you work hard and don't lag behind, you'll be fine. Also, the tests are literally straight off from the study guides. There is no final test; instead, you have to complete a LFU, which is a pain in the ass but do-able.
As far as Dr. Maples goes, she is alright. She seemed to like me and helped me a few times, but I felt she was very cold and unsympathetic towards the class the majority of the time. She is very abrasive and can be rude. The only advice I can give you is to just try to get on her good side!

maples is good if you stay on her good side. she tends to pick on 2 to 3 students every semester. she sticks to the schedule and if you wanna work ahead forget it. she can be mean but smile as she is being mean. her class takes up alot of time and its alot of work. if you do the work right and you are respectuful youll do fine.

Dr. Maples may rub you the wrong way at first but she truly is a great teacher. She can snap on you in an instant but she is a grandma at heart and wants you to succeed. Her tests are exactly like her study guides. And there is an easy 50 points extra credit. You read two books but they are good ones. Take this teacher!

I really liked this class because I love children's literature. I enjoyed Dr. Maples teaching, but sometimes her approach wasn't good. The only thing that got on my last nerves was her voice! If you like being baby talked then take her, otherwise sitting in her class will be terrible. She gives hard reviews for the test, but as long as you know the information that is on the review you will do great on the test, they are the exact same questions. All of the answers are in the book, it is worth your time to look them up!
I also learned not to get on her bad side. If you are on her bad side there is little chance for you to get help... don't miss a class and you will be fine.

Maples is good. She is very helpful and grades easy! Take her class. There are five lesson plans which are very easy. There is a midterm which involves making a lesson plan. The final comes straight from the phonics book and is easy. She allows you to make books for extra credit. At the end of the course, you go to her house and read a story from your journal. This class is time consuming, but if you take the time to get the work done then you will do just fine.

Dr. Maples is great but she doesn't tolerate excuses. If you show up, do the work, and study for the exams you will do fine. After reading some evaluations about her, I was afraid to take her class, but she was not as bad as they said she was. I enjoyed taking her class. If you do an extra ten hours of observing, you can earn an extra 50 pts, which could improve your grade by a whole letter. Overall I think she was great, but you have to be willing to do the work and have it turned on time.

Dr. Maples is one of the sweetest ladies that I have ever met!! She is very passionate about teaching. She also cares a lot for children and the students that she teaches. Dr. Maples is a fairly easy grader on all of the assignments she gives. Throughout the class she lectures and gives ten point assignments for homework almost every night. These assignments are extremely easy, but very important to do. During the class you are required to do 10 hours in an elementary school setting. For extra credit, she allows you to do an extra 10 hours in the school for 50 extra credit points. The tests are easy. The answers come straight from the study guide (word for word). Her class was very easy!! If you can take her...you will not regret it!!!!!

There is alot of busy work to this class and it is somewhat demanding. Do the extra credit if possible. You are required to do a Literacy Focus Unit over a Newbery book that is a large portion of your grade. There is a midterm and a final. Print out your study guides as soon as possible, the exact questions are on the test but in a different order.

Dr. Maples definitley knows her stuff. However, sometimes I feel like I am back in 3rd grade bc that is how she talks to us. There is definitely a lot of work in this class; there is almost a new assignment for every class, but they are quick and rarely took over 15 minutes to complete. There are 10 hours of observation, but she gives you at least 2 field days to complete them. You can do 10 more hours for up to 50 pts. extra credit. The book is very helpful; I am keeping mine after the semester is over. There is a midterm over the first half of the material and a final over the second half, but if you do the study guides she gives you, you will do fine. The test material is almost word-for-word off the study guides. There is a final project of a Literature Focus Unit which is a lot of work. However, it is definitely helpful, and if you stay on top of it, you'll have enough time to do it. I didn't really read the text book, I just followed along while she lectured, but the back Appendium is very helpful for doing her 10 pt. assignments. ALthough Dr. Maples give A LOT of little assignments, that just makes it easier to get a good grade. I recommend her unless you get flustered easily.

Dr. Maples does give a lot of work to do but it's worth it. I loved taking her class and I learned a lot from her and the field experience we did. The class is easy as long as you do your work just try not to get too overwhelmed with all the assignments you have but they will benefit you.

This course has several assignments, most of which are worth 10 points and are done within the class period. There are two reading assignments, Hatchet and The Watsons Go to Birmingham. Also, you are required to do 10 hours of field experience and a couple of large projects with the students. Dr. Maples is an okay professor, she really knows the material. It just seemed like a struggle for her to be nice. If you do take her, make sure and go to class and do all the assignments.

I REALLY enjoyed Dr. Maples' course!! She is a very nice lady, and she will help you in any way she possibly can. This course requires a lot of hard work, but she always makes the lessons interesting. We had to do 10 hours of field work, but it was a lot of fun. I would recommend this class to anyone!!

Dr. Maples is an OK professor. She can get an attitude very easily and treat you like a 1st grader, but generally she's pretty nice. The class has tons of work, mostly simply assignments that don't take much time, but there is a huge literature focus unit project at the end that takes FOREVER to do. There are 10 hours of observation required but she gives you free days (no class) to complete those. There are 3 or 4 tests and they are all open-book and take home, pretty simple. Just stay on top of things and you'll be fine.

Mrs. Maples is a good teacher. This class is very time consuming. There are a lot of assignments but they are short. There is field experience for this class too. Don't go into this class thinking that it is an easy A and you'll be fine. Stay on top of things.

Mrs. Maples is the worst teacher I have had in college so far. She new her literacy material, but treated my class as if we were children. Also, she was always in a bad mood and made my class feel stupid for asking questions.

There is a lot of misconceptions about Dr. Maples. I had no problem with her at all. Just be respectful to her and she will in return give you the respect that you deserve. I simply did my work and remained calm. Block can be stessful but you have to remember to take one thing at a time. Just take it one day at a time and do your work, you'll survive.
