Additional Comments |
This class is fairly easy and is one of those classes that you just have to grit your teeth and bare it. Dr. Gibson is an ex opera singer and is very infatuated with opera music. He is also a devout prysberterian. He also has no respect for any music created post 1920. He gives only 3 exams which are short and done on scantrons. They consist of a listening section where you will have to identify songs you are required to listen to. This is by far the hardest part of the class. The rest is multiple choice or matching about material covered in class. You will also learn about "required extra credit". when he uses this term it is highly confusing. What it means is you have to attend 3 university musical productions and write short papers for them. If you do this you get 6 points added to your final grade in the class. Thats not on a test or anything thats 6 points to your final grade. However if you dont attend three events then he will deduct 6 points from your final grade. He is very unclear on this whole situation and it took me confronting him several times in class to get it explained. If you get an A on all the exams you are not required to take the final. Dr. Gibson is a very boring man who refuses to bend or see things from others perspective. I would reccomend taking it his class tough becasue it is still not hard to get an A.
