I would not recommend him because he does not provide you with a lot direction in the course. He is a monotone teacher that teaches to the last minute of every class. There is not one day that you will not lecture.

Of course any history course is going to be difficult, however I encourage you to take this course with this professor. He is helpful, understanding, and explains the material in managable portions; combining his lecture with short informative documentaries. He provides a study guide a week before the test and is fairly understanding when grading the essay tests. They are difficult but nothing unmanegable.
He stresses the thesis in papers and essays and will sporadically give extra credit to those who participated in lecture for that day.

This class is hard. His test are 6 ID's and two essay questions. But he give you like 21 ID's and 6 essay questions on the studt guide and wants us to remember all of them. You have to know everything, i mean everything to past his class. If you miss something that dealed with a certain time period on the test you already got a low score. Dont take this professor.

This class made me want to die. It wasn't bad until the test or analysis. He gives study guides for the test but there is so much to remember, it's overwhelming. I was lucky to recieve a B. He does not give extra credit to anyone and the class is boring.

Dr. Romero is a really nice guy. His is definitely the easiest Western Civ class to take. There are no pop quizzes and very few outside assignments. He gives you plenty of notice before tests and there is just one short research paper. The tests are mostly essays and there is a lot of writing but if have read anything from the book (and you don't have to read as much as he says to do well) then it wont be a big deal. If you are having trouble or don't like your grade, he is more than willing to talk to you and try to help you. There is a lot of note taking and the class is a little boring but you can tell he loves the subject and he tries to make a boring subject interesting.

Dr. Romero's specialty is middle eastern history, so if anyone has any interest in this field I would recommend taking this class, however, the content was not really what I was expecting. I went in thinking we would learn about some of the ancient middle eastern civilizations such as the Persians and others, but the content starts with the founding of Islam and you cover topics/issues all the way up to the present day. Dr. Romero is a very nice and interesting guy and he is always willing to help, but he has high expectations for his students (especially since this is a senior level History course) so this class is pretty difficult. There is a 15 page term paper (which I thought was one of the toughest papers I've ever had to write), 2 in class analysis in which he gives you a topic and wants you to elaborate upon it and offer your own opinions on the issue, along with the mid-term and the final. The exams are pretty tough but he does give you the essays and IDs beforehand so you know exactly what to study, but he picks and chooses what he wants to put on the tests so to have any chance of doing well you have to study EVERYTHING. Dr. Romeros lectures can get pretty boring but I did learn a lot in this class, so if you want to learn about an interesting part of history that most are probably unfamiliar with, take this class, just be prepared to work.

If you like history you will do okay in his class, but if not then you wont. He gives long lectures and you dont do much in class besides take notes and do in class writings such as analysis, and essays. On test you will be given IDs which you must write a paragragh about and then given 3 essays which you will pick two and write about them. He will give you a outline of a studyguide. And an outline of all his lectures will be on blackboard, but i reccommend going to class because he adds extra notes in to the lecture during class.

easy course if you're a good writer! the only assignments are papers. there are 2 tests, both of which are essays. i never went to class and got a B. would have been an A, had i known he graded for attendance. if you're a poor writer, stay away. he stresses THESIS THESIS THESIS! ive heard most history professors do grade like this though. ummm very boring too. the only thing i learned was how to fall asleep sitting straight up, because he does call you out when you drift off. he is a nice guy though and helpful if you need it

Romero is an EASY teacher, I slept every day in his class and received a C. Most times I didn't even go to class. Do good on the final paper and book review and you'll be fine.
