Additional Comments |
This class proved to be informative as well as interesting. Dr. Kim expects her students to be on time and willing to engage in class discussions over taboo material (pregnancy, birth control, porn, masturbation, fetishes, rape).
There are 3-4 exams that contain ~50 multiple choice (you bring your own scantrons) and 4 short answer. The final is mandatory but isn't cumulative.
There are also other assignments due over the semester including a book/movie review, quizzes, and a group presentation.
Attendance is required, with 5 absences being the maximum. Any more than that will lower your grade a whole letter per absence. She does reward perfect attendance with +15 points and +10 to one absence.
Make sure that you get the book since there is material on the tests that is not covered in class. The group presentations also depend on the text material so it makes having the book doubly important.
She does offer extra credit, varying from 3-5 points. The easiest form of EC to do is go to one of the HIV screenings and write a one page reaction for 5 points.
In all, if you do take Dr. Kim make sure you go to class, get the book and pay attention and you can get a deserved A.
