Don't take this class unless you have to! I am currently a nursing major and it was just recommended. I wish I had not have taken it. The quizzes are ridiculous and the final is 100 questions of things you don't know. The study guides are no help at all and neither are the two books she requires. This class is so boring and the whole time you are in it they are pretty much telling you how hard it is. That class alone is making me reconsider my major. I failed the final because they screwed up their syllabus and the final was a week earlier than the syllabus said. And I'm a striaight-A student. And just a warning, THIS CLASS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH BEING A NURSE!!!!

I do NOT recommend taking this class! As of right now, it is not even required for nursing majors. Your advisor has been told to make it sound like it is required because they want you to take it, but it actually isn't. For me, it was a waste of time.
Like most introduction classes, this class was a weed-out class. It is taught by the Dean of nursing. She is a very intelligent woman who knows what she is talking about. But she is strict. And she grades hard. This class follows the grading scale used in nursing school. Meaning that in order to get an A, you must have a %91+ instead of a %90 +.
The class is only based on 300 points. So you must keep up with everything. If you do poorly on something, it is very hard to pull your grade back up. One-third of the class is based on five online quizes. The other third is based on random projects. And the last third is based on a cumulative final with 50 multiple choice questions. The hardest part of the class was probably the APA paper which was worth 50 points. I am almost sure that not a single person in the class got a 100% on it. She graded them very hard. So just do everything that she tells you to do for the paper.
Although I have given a negative opinion of the class, it did have a few redeeming factors. Obviously, I survived with an A. If you work hard, you can do well. Writing the APA paper seemed like torture, but I did learn a lot about APA papers, which has already been extremely helpful for my other classes related to nursing. Dr. Bennett tries to give you a good taste of what nursing is going to be like. And she does a good job of it. She is a nice lady, so try to get to know her. Show up to class, pay attention, take notes, study for the quizzes, and the final, and follow all of the directions for the paper, and you will be just fine. But try to avoid this class if possible. :]
