By far the hardest accounting course in the Gordon Ford college of business. But it pays off so much and preps you for future accounting courses. I had to take this class twice. Use the practive quiz for the test, they will help a lot and on the test none of the multiple choice are ever E-G.

I really like Dr. Ross. He doesn't waste much time with petty details, which I like. He assumes that you know basic concepts from the prereqs for the class, so if you don't, don't expect to do a lot of review. The class is difficult but if you do all the homework and use all the resources he offers you (a ton) then you will be fine.

Dr. Ross is a good teacher, but he keeps up a very fast pace as you probably know from the previous ACCT 300 class. The key to this class is to do ALL the wiley plus and quizzes as they can really help your grade. I had a pretty bad average on the tests but I got out with a pretty high C grade which I am pretty happy about. Don't stress about this class, He is a good teacher and you will learn a lot.

I understand that this class is supposed to difficult and it is apparently supposed to make people drop the major, but I feel like one of the big reasons I got a "C" and the reason that half the class failed is not because of the difficulty of the material, but because of how fast and small Dr. Ross writes the notes on the board. Every morning he would come in and say the problem we would be working on that day, and by the time I turned to the problem in the book and looked up at the board to start working it with him, he would almost have the whole thing worked out. Yes, the material is difficult, but this class is basically a contest to see who can write the fastest... you or Mark. The people in the class who wrote faster than Mark won the race and got B's and A's. It is a very unfair class. He is a great guy, super nice and funny, but a nightmare of a teacher! If you decide to take the class, Good luck!

ACCT 300 is the make or break accounting course... but seeing that it's mandatory there's no way around it. Dr. Ross does teach fast and write small but once you get the hang of how his exams go and don't fall behind in the readings and wiley plus' you'll be fine. The final is cumulative, and very hard but you can make it easier on yourself by keeping up with the material and correcting your mistakes on previous exams throughout the semester.

This class is a diffiicult class if your learning pace is slower than others. Mr. Ross has a distracting accent and talks very fast through the problems he does throughout class. I have difficulty just writing as fast as he does, let alone understanding the problems at his pace. If you are a quick learner then you will do fine. If not find another professor. If you do end up with him DO NOT MISS any class. It is very difficult to catch up.

This class is worth four hours, and trust me, you will earn each of the hours a million times over in the class. I recommend taking it in the summer when you do not have other classes. It makes for an insane month and a half, but it's worth it. The tests are very tricky, the work is extensive, and the wiley plus is hard. However, the great thing about this class is THE ROSS CURVE.

Ross is a good teacher he just teaches really fast. You have to ask him to stop and explain things if you dont understand but you go over it enough times with different examples so it helps. On average it was only two pages of notes, front and back. His tests are a little difficult you have to study for them you cant just think you know it, he also words the questions weird so it takes a little while to fully understand what he is asking. There are wiley plus quizzes you take online that are very helpful to the class as well.

I took this class over the summer, and I definitely recommend doing so for anyone else who has the option. This class followed a very similar format to 300...constantly struggling to keep up with Ross as he wrote notes and worked problems in class. The material is also very similar, but concentrates on Equity. The differences were that the exams were half mc and half problem solving and we had take home problems instead of quizzes. He does not curve the tests, but he does allow you to miss about 3 mc w/o it affecting your grade. The problems are very similar to the quizzes in their difficulty, but they aren't quite as long and their are no hints. Of course, Ross is always good about being available in his office if you need some help.
The coursework is a lot to cover in a 5 week class, so you have to stay on top of things. But overall, I found it much easier to deal with in the summer as you don't have 5 other classes to worry about keeping up with as well.

Accounting 300 was the most intense thing that ever happened to me. The course load is shockingly immense, and the material can be quite difficult. Attendance isn't actually mandatory, but I put that it was b/c even if you miss one day, you'll be amazingly confused the next day and find it hard to catch up. I'm an all A's student, but I really struggled for an A in this class. The good thing about this class, however, is that you will quickly realize whether or not you have what it takes to be an Accounting major. Even though it was very difficult, I liked Ross as a teacher and I learned more than I did in all of my other classes combined. Here is a break-down of the class...
12 in-class quizzes
12 take-home quizzes (usually took me around 2-6 hours)
2 group projects (very time-consuming)
1 individual computer project
6 exams (all multiple choice, 50% conceptual 50% computational)
Cumulative final (VERY difficult, don't expect a break on this one)
Tips:
Go to the events that will give you extra credit points.
Get a study partner, someone you can check take-home quiz solutions with.
Learn to write quickly and abbreviate notes. Ross goes FAST and it's a constant struggle to keep up with him.
Have fun. Good luck!

Dr. Ross is a great teacher. This class goes by very fast but if you can understand the concepts you will do well. All tests are scantron. He offers alot of extra credit, any of the bad reviews on here are from people who aren't smart enough to take the course, if you can't take the course you should be a business management major and not an accounting major.

300 was the hardest class I have ever taken. I took this class during the summer & thought I was in boot camp. I'll have to say it taught me a lot about study habits (that I did not possess). Two weeks into the class I knew I had hit a level in my education that would determine if I really have what it takes to be an accountant. Needless to say, I survived and it was well worth the experience. Ross's class is fast paced and covers a lot of material. I recommend buying the study guide & the solutions manual. It's the only reason I passed. Having a couple of study partners is a plus.

I took this class with Dr. Ross over the summer. The material is a lot easier than 300, but because the class in packed into 5 weeks, it makes it a bit difficult. Instead of quizzes (like in 300), you have problems for each chapter. They weren't too bad, but there are no hints. But if you go to Dr Ross and ask for some sort of check figure, he'll usually help you out. Overall, the class wasn't too bad and I would recommend to take it in the summer with Ross if you can.

He mixes a little humor into the class, which helps you pay attention. He also gives about 12 quizzes, but each have chances for extra credit points. I would recommend him to anyone.

This course is very challenging, however i still liked it a lot. Yes, this class is extremely time consuming but the good thing is Dr. Ross will be glad to help anybody who is struggling or has questions. Attendance is not mandatory but if you miss a class you get behind very easily. He doesnt give extra credit, but on his test you can get 40 out of the 45 mc questions right and still get a 100 on test. His final grading is slightly curved also. A lot of ppl make this course out to be something that its not. Yeah its hard but if you do that take home quizzes check your answers with others and study for a while for his tests you can pull a B without a problem. There is no longer a project that you have to do in this class.

Dr. Ross' class is very difficult!! You will take notes and work out problems from your textbook during class. However, he requires you to complete a take home quiz every week which requires at least 5 hours or more to complete on your own time. His class is very time consuming! Also, when working on the project, don't worry too much about getting it done correctly, b/c the project only counts for a small percentage towards your final grade. I suggest really spending a lot of time going over take home quizzes. Study at least 2 or 3 days for exams. His exams are given in the afternoon on Mondays. You even go to his class to begin on a new section the day his exams are given... I wouldn't recommend him but he is the only teacher for the class. Just work your way through it, and don't let him discourage your desire to be an accounting major.

Accounting is a rough class, no matter what teacher you take, but Ross makes it pretty easy. There are quizes about once a week, but you can miss one question and still get 100%. THere are 5 bonus questions on every test, so you have the possibility of getting well over 100% on each test. You do many practice problems in class, and he spends extra time on areas he noticing students struggling in.

Ross, overall is a nice guy and know's accounting is a difficult subject. He will lend a hand to you when needed and IF you make the effort and ACT like you care.
There are tons of semi-easy quizzes (12 or more) and for the most part their worth 5 points each, but each quiz you can get a possible 6 points out of 5 (so extra credit on each). The quizzes can be difficult, but their not bad if you come to class and pay attention.
Accounting is basically memorizing steps. You'll have to be able to understand the beginning of this course to make it through the rest of the semester. Every part of this class, builds on itself. You'll be constantly asked questions that refer back to previous chapters.
Test, of course, are a little hard. Ross gives a total of THREE test, and then there's a final. But luckily the tests are all multiple choice, and you will need scan trons for this class. The questions WILL make you think, dont fly through it and dont go on your first GUT instinct. Think the questions out and make sure you know your formula's from the lectures. Ross will encourage you to do the problems out of the book, i never did, but i went to class every day and paid attention.
The main thing is, COME TO CLASS, and PAY CLOSE ATTENTION. Attendence isnt a must in there, but i wouldnt recommend missing, since there's always at least one quiz a week, and the day before the quiz he always gives hints as to what the next quiz will be over. There were times i wanted to fall asleep because his voice can be somewhat mono-toned, but he does try to get the students involved, and dont hesitate to ask questions in or out of class, he'll be willing to help, so be willing to try!!

Accounting 300 is considered the "weed out" class, so, yes, it's very hard! Dr. Ross is an awesome teacher, however, and will go to great lengths to help you understand the material. He gives a quiz for every chapter, but does not mind (and actually encourages) you to work in groups. There is one project and 3 tests. You will have to devote quite a bit of time to his class, but he makes you want to work hard!

If you want to do well in this class, be prepared to spend a lot of time and effort. You will be doing accounting homework every weekend of the semester! This class is known (not officially) as the weed-out class. You have to be willing to do the work (without complaining) to finish this class and move on in accounting!
Dr. Ross is an excellent professor. He really knows the material and can do the problems without looking at his "cheat sheet" (unlike Dr. Magner). He really makes the class fun. The class isn't a lot of lecture...basically you do problems the whole time with a little background info. I honestly feel like I learned something from this class and will retain the info longer than ten seconds!
There is a 25 point quiz over each chapter, approximately one per week. They are difficult and require a lot of work. In my opinion, it is important that you DO the quizzes on your own. Then compare your answers with others in the class. If you don't, it is highly unlikely that you will get all of these questions correct.
There is also a 60 point group project. You pick your own group. This project covers Chapters 3-5 (basically a review of ACCT 200). It is difficult, but if he can see that you have actually worked on it, Dr. Ross will point out things you should look at again.
There are four MC exams (including the final). These exams are worth 360 points and each cover three chapters. Each chapter contains 15 questions. Approximately half of these questions are conceptual and the other half computational (problem-solving). Tests are held outside of class time (because you CANNOT usually finish them in less than three hours).
This class is very difficult (though most thought 310 was more difficult). To do well, you have to do the work and spend time working on the material. As a perpetual procrastinator, I had to change my ways for this class. You shouldn't wait until the last minute to start working on the quizzes or studying.
Difficult and tedious as this class has been, it as been one of my favorites. I would take Dr. Ross again if given the opportunity!

Dr. Ross is kind of out there. He sort of talks like Gomer from the Andy Griffith show. But, he is a fairly decent teacher. I hear he's better for upper level classes though. This class, however, has a lot of quizzes worth 5 points a piece, but you can earn more through extra credit on the quiz. There are 3 exams and a final, but everything comes directly from your notes and the problems you do in class with him. It's not too bad, just make sure you GO TO CLASS! He doesn't have an attendance policy, but if you miss, you're likely to miss a quiz. He gives them all the time, with very little warning.
