I took this class two or three semesters ago, and realized that I never left feedback about Dr. Prichard. She is -by far- one of the most effective teachers I have had at WKU when it comes to having us truely learn the information. I can still remember almost everything we were taught in that class, and it has already come to my advantage in other classes. I am sure that I will be even more thankful for her class when I take the PRAXIS 2, since they are known to be heavy on theorists.
She doesn't believe in just giving an A if you simply do the work and nothing else. She believes that an A is something you need to show evidence of working for, not just doing minimum work. Her tests are overly fair... you are allowed to choose between multiple choice and a couple essay or less m.c. and more essay. Her m.c. questions are subjective; in other words, if you can justify an answer well enough, you will get credit for the question, even if you didn't mark what she said the "right answer" was. She is very approachable, as long as she can tell you are giving effort into the class.
The MAJORITY of the people who did poorly in my class fell into one of three catergoies: 1. Didn't show up regularly (making it hard to learn what you will be tested over) 2. Were too lazy to put my work into the class, since there was minimum homework 3. Didn't do the study guide, the big paper, or other assignments.
Dr. Pritchard will push students to work harder that a lot of other teachers, but is willingly to help whenever possible AS LONG AS YOU SHOW HER REPSECT. She has already helped me after being out of her class, and did so in class. If you want an easy A class that you will forget about when you leave the class, she isn't the teacher for you. But if you are willingly to work with her and by yourself, she will teach you information you will- MOST CERTAINLY- use in your other teaching classes.
