Dr. Pulsinelli is an excellent professor. Attendence is not mandatory, but I would highly recommend being there for every class because you cover a lot of material. Occasionally he will ask the class a very difficult question and offer two or three bonus points on the final to the student who can answer this. That's quite generous, considering you have three 100 point tests and no other grades.
