His class is somewhat difficult if you did not attend class. But if you go you somewhat get the hang of it. His powerpoint note make no sense and barely cover the material you are quizzed on, so i would recommend going to class. I originally had a 75, but emailed him about my grade and he bumped me up to a B. I would recommend him, if you plan to attend class and ask questions if you don't understand.

This class seemed very easy. He made it seem like we would just breeze through and that we wouldnt need our books. I returned my book, took the class, and became confussed. He teaches by poerpoint and you have 9 grades in the class which consist of all quizes on blackboard. You get to drop your two lowest quiz grades at the end of the semester which is a plus! Hes not a bad teacher, hes just been here for so long he expects you to know more than you actually do. If you pay attention and go to class, you will be ok. But if you start to become confused or overwhelmed with the material, go to him and ask him about it right away! That is what I failed to do.

He is a good teacher, kinda boring! There are like 6 quizzes on blackboard and 4 tests in class. Quizzes are 60 percent of grade and fairly easy. Tests are just like the quiz. And at the end there is an optional exam that can boost ur grade 10%.

Soo...Mr. Crawford's class isnt actually all that bad, yes he can get boring but as long as you put SOME effort in the class you should get a good grade. I think i learned more the class period before we had a test than any other day, so he's pretty good at reviewing. He puts all the slideshows on blackboard after he goes over them. He drops your lowest quiz grade & at the end of the semester he's giving us an "Optional Exam" if we need to boost our grade we can take it. He will only count it in your grade if you do well on it.. I maybe went to half of the classes the whole semester. At one point i didnt go for probably two weeks, it wasnt too hard to catch back up, but i also wouldnt recommend doing that. I think i might get a C from this class. i could have got a better grade but i didnt put much effort into it since it was just a gen ed :/ I would recommend Mr. Crawford, he's a reallyyy nice guy & will help you if you have any questions. ALSO the extra 'help' sessions that are supposed to be required for this course if you didnt have a high enough ACT score, arent requred either..&& NO FINAL!! He just gives a regular test the week before finals week. The week before finals this semester was= Monday-Final regular test Wednesday-'Optional Exam' Friday-Make up exam..

One of the worst teachers I've had at Western. The content he teaches is not basic math... it's more about finding Euler paths and circuits and tediously arranging things. I'd highly recommend taking someone else.

First off: this is NOT "general math".
There is no adding and subtracting or simple algebra. This is very difficult coursework! Hamiltonian Circuits, Percentages, Statistics....this is basicly Discrete Math.
However, he is very nice and sweet. He knows so much about math and various theories, it makes you wonder why he is teaching a simple gen-ed course. Tests aren't too hard, if he does it in class it'll most likely be on there, and I have not once opened the math book.

This course is RIDICULOUS! I even got a tutor that recieved an A in Math 109 the year before and when she saw my notes she had no idea what she was looking at. His powerpoints are absolutley ridiculous and are like a history class. His class is extremley hard Ive put alot of time into studying and its like Im having to teach myself. If your taking this course my tutor said Ayers was an amazing teacher and she teaches Math 109 not Geometry like Crawford!! Dont take him hes awful

I took this class instead of 116 hoping it would be cake. I was completely wrong. All this course is is probability there's no algebra, nothing. Dr. Crawford was a terrible teacher. His notes were not helpful at all. My boyfriend is a Mechanical Engineering major and couldn't figure this stuff out! Don't take this course!

Dr. Crawford is amazing! General Math was actually a kind of fun class. Attendance is not required and you really dont need the book for the class. You have 3 exams and no final. You also have around 7 quizzes in which he drops the lowest. I would recommend him to everybody.

THIS IS NOT AN INTRO CLASS. This course is not an introductory level class. It is designed as an introduction to java for Advanced programmers. It is not, and should not be taken as a introduction to programming using the language java. The only "simple" assignment given in the class is a Hello World program due the first week to test your instillation of the JDK. He has complex problems with non trivial solutions. The CS department would do well to drop the "Into to" and just call the class Java. By the second biterm he will have covered multithreading, the Abstract Windowing Kit, and the lightweight java swing set components. This is by no means "into level" programming. Dr Bob is an extreamly bright person. He is a very good teacher. He is extreamly helpful. If by some remote chance he does not know the answer to one of your questions he will by god go and look it up and tell you the next day. I encourage everyone to take his classes but be wary, this man does not teach Intro level anything!

Dr Crawford didn't give any exams. He grades his programming classes by giving programming assignments. Each bi-term has about 4 programs to be written. There are no other grades taken in this class, so make sure you do well on the programs! Otherwise, I left the class with a fairly decent general knowledge of Java, and a good grade. I found he was fairly easy on grading, as long as it met the general criteria.

Dr. Crawford structures his class so that there are no tests. That may seem like a good thing but really it's not. There are no opportunities to raise your grade this way. You will have maybe 4 programs MAX the whole semester, and your grade will be based on that. Also, the examples he shows in class are not that helpful on the ridiculously difficult assignments he throws at you. He will spend several days going over different examples *i.e. showing them to the class on the projector* and then he will assign a program that seems three times as hard as anything he showed in class. And you'll generally have about a week to figure it out in. Most of what I learned...no, ALL of what I learned in this class I taught myself from looking through the book and

I really didn't care for this class. I got absolutely nothing out of it, and I'll never take another programming class because of it. Basically nothing but a waste of time...I'm being generous by giving it an OK rating.

This is a difficult class. If you do not have several hours available to spend on the programs I wouldn't recommend taking it. Dr. Crawford knows what he is teaching but he teaches over my head. I learned most of the material from the book. Many people dropped the class after a few weeks.

Dr. Crawford knows a lot about what he teaches, but treats his students like they are CS majors. This is an intro class, but he acts like you should already know what you're doing. If you ask him questions about something, he answers them as if you're the stupidest person he's ever met. The programs he assigns his students are much more difficult than what he teaches in class. For the 1st month of class, I took notes on every little thing he did--all the programming codes and commands--, but when he gave the program assignments, they were ridiculously harder than what he taught us in class. Bob Crawford is a terrible teacher.
