Additional Comments |
Dr. Phillips is one of those experiences that every history major should experience. He is hateful towards students and academically arrogant, but he does it in such a tasteless manner that it is--for lack of a better phrase--excellently badass. He is naturally funny in this way and totally knowledgeable about the subject. This class was genuinely interesting, but I wish that he would include more discussion and primary sources. His lecture is the whole of the class outside of a few movies and the lectures do not disappoint. It's worth noting that he takes so long on the period from Bolshevik revolution to the death of Stalin that we had literally an hour to discuss post 1953 Russia, which is a little nuts. Take this class anyway.
