I did not like Promotion that much. Mrs. Embry goes on and on and all she does is read over the notes that she asked you to print out. She almost put me to sleep so many times in that class. If all she was going to do was read over the notes and not further explain anything, I would have rather left class early and went home and studied myself.
She also expects you to memorize every vaccination that is given from birth until you die and memorize the vaccination schedule for infants, adolescents, and adults! Why memorize all of this when wherever we work will have a copy of the vaccination schedule posted? The vaccination schedule changes every 5 years anyway, so what is the point in memorizing it?!
The clinicals weren't that bad (some of them anyway). There were a lot of childcare institutions where all you did was sit around and watch the kids play.

I loved this class. There was a lot of busy work, but it was so easy. For the tests, study your notes, know them and you should do just fine. Warning: if your entire class does really well on the first test, the second test will be MUCH more difficult. My class learned that the hard way!! Know your immunizations!!!! The final is difficult, the 50 questions from old tests are easy, at least 40 of them will be repeats. The new material questions are awful! Clincial is nothing, you just go to a few community sites and that's it! I enjoyed the clincials!

Mrs Embry was the highlight of my first semester!!! I'm not going to lie, she can run off on tangents and her notes are very detailed. However she was hilarious to have in class and she really cares about her students. The text is required but I never used it and still made a B. I could have made an A, I'm very sure, but I'm a procrastinator and only studied the night before the test... so don't trip over this class it's not that bad.
BTW, the hardest test is the final. The others are easy - just study the notes.
I dont care what anyone else says, Mrs Embry is a riot and her class was definately my favorite!

This class gives you a lot of busy work. Embry is an okay instructor as long as you don't cause her problems. You can not miss this class. She gave us all the notes, we just had to print them out. If you can read then you can pass the test. The book is only needed a little. I never read and I made an A, but there were a few charts I looked at in the book, but you could look at someone else's as long as someone bought it. The assignments are not pertainent to the class, it is busy work like I said. Very passable course.
