This course is a great class and is either taught by Dr. Chhachhi or Dr. Chan. Either professor is great. There are no tests in this class, but you must make several presentations and they are time consuming. The class manages a portfolio for TVA and each presentation is essentially a valuation of a company to consider adding to the portfolio or reevaluations of companies in the portfolio. You must do a great deal of research and this class is very useful. This class teaches you the art of portfolio management and what to look for in stocks. I highly recommend this course as it will teach you things that you can actually use. If you are a shy person, get over it, because you must offer input to the group and stock decisions are made by the students and the professors are just there mainly on an advisory basis and to mediate the class discussion. Know not only about what you are presenting, but spend a little time familiarizing yourself with the presentation others will be making ahead of time. People say this class is hard, but once you get into it, you will enjoy it!

I am a double major in Finance and Accounting and this is by far the hardest course that I have ever taken. The tests are very detailed and comprise 75% of your grade. You MUST do all the homework problems and you MUST read the chapters. 4% of your grade comes from random attendance quizzes, so you must basically attendance quizzes. The remaining portion of your grade comes from group case assignments and an individual case. These cases are very time consuming. I spent over 50 hours on the written individual case. This class is structured with a lot of material that you have never been exposed. There are very few A's in this course, though receiving an A is not impossible. I only missed an A by a few points. This class is a great prep for the CFA exam. Also, participate in class and always ask questions when you do not understand something. Dr. Chhachhi is a great professor if you give him a chance.

This course takes a lot of work, but if you do the work you will be glad. It was by far the hardest class I've taken, but the one I learned the most in. I actually really enjoyed the class and the challenge. Chhachhi didn't throw any curve balls and if you do the work you will do well.
