You will LEARN Organic from this man. He works your hard but in the end you know your stuff. He may give you a hard time, but he's a great guy, and WKU's best Organic teacher. Get him if you can!

Dr. Holman is the one of the best teachers I have had here at WKU. He is a funny and intelligent man, although his military like voice kind of intimidates the hell out of you. He presents the material in a way for you to understand and if you don't he'll work with you until you do. The chemistry department would hurt without him.

Scott is a cool guy, he'll help you out when you need it, and hes not out to screw people over. He'll really make you sweat over the nomencalture exam, but when it comes down to it, he probably won't fail you because of it

Dr. Holman basically uses the lab to supplement his lectures for CHEM 342. We frequently used the lab time to cover 342 material while our reagents mixed. The labs are easy to do and almost pointless. Our final was take-home. Easy lab...

This class is very hard, but Dr. Holman is definitely the guy to take. He explains the material better than any teacher I've ever had, and he frequently gives take-home quizzes and other worksheets to make sure you know your stuff. The tests are really hard. The format is: here's a drug..here's its structure...start with this material...build this drug in a certain number of steps. There is also some theory questions on each test. The final is standardized, but Dr. Holman's students usually do very well. Dr. Holman is the one to take, though.

Organic lab with Holman is very easy. He covers things in lab that are pertinent to lecture, so that you don't do things in lab that you haven't learned in lecture. However, if he gets behind in lecture, he will make up for it in lab by lecturing more. Labs are fairly easy and simple and he usually lets you turn them in at your convience. Take Holman for lab.

Dr Holman is the best teacher at WKU for Organic Chemistry. However, he does have quite the attitude at times. If you are a girl, you will get extra help and probably an A if you flirt with him. Guys, be prepared to study because he won't give you any breaks like the girls. Aside from that, he teaches Organic in a way students can understand and far better than Slocum or Salvatore. If you have to take this class definately take Holman b/c if you don't, you'll eventually retake it with him anyway.

Overall, I liked how Dr. Holman presented the material, but the tests ranged from 4-6 hours long per test, which was totally unnessecary. He is also a very sexist teacher. If you are FEMALE and flirt with him, you will have no problem. As for the males..... good luck on getting any help outside of class. Be prepared to study 20 hours a week on this class and don't take a heavy course load.

Dr. Holman is the best organic teacher there is. He is incredibly passionate about what he teaches and even though the class is incredibly hard, he makes it possible to do well. He is excellent and I can't say enough good things about him. He does not play favorites and he is quite funny actually. If you have to take Organic, take him; no one else is quite like him.

Dr. Holman is an excellent professor; if he didn't teach it so well, I probably wouldn't have done nearly as well. However, he tends to show a little favoritism to the female population of his class (answers/shows them how to do everything). If you're a guy, be prepared to work your butt off. If you're a girl, just ask him how to do it.

Dr. Holman is the best teacher for this subject and lab too. He expects a lot of dedication, but he makes him self very available for questions. His tests are challenging, but if he knows you are working hard, he will boost your grade. He is very fair in grading.

I must admit Dr. Holman is an excellent professor and made organic an interesting, fun class. I must warn you, make sure to look at your exams and see that he doesn't take off too many points. He shows TOTAL favortism to his "female groupies".

Dr. Holman is a great organic chem professor. To anyone going on to grad school in chem, take Holman. His class is tough, but you'll leave knowing something about organic chemistry.
