The class isn't the difficult part. It's the professor. You are required to accumulate 10 hours of lab throughout the course, however it's nearly impossible because the lab teacher Tammy and Spillman NEVER communicate with each other so you are constantly in a standstill in the lab because the material you are required to to you haven't gone over in class. It is also ALOT of busy work. you have about 10 pages of workbook to do every class - you watch a video in ASL and answer questions. You also have to read about 30 pages every class for Deaf culture quizzes. Attendance is mandatory. It doesn't matter if its excused or unexcused. if you miss 5 classes you fail. no questions ask. And you are expected to keep up with your own attendance and work. If you are taking this class to avoid the waiting list at the BG campus like I did - it isn't worth it.

She is a wonderful teacher who really understands the subject she is teaching. On the other hand, she is completely disorganized. She will expect you to hand in a paper she never assigned because she thought she told the class about it, but she never did. She doesn't explain assignments that well either seeing as how the class is conducted on a "no voice" policy. So if you have any questions about an assignment it's best to ask her about it after class has ended. The class is not difficult because she offers many ways to practice the new language. Just don't miss too many classes or you will be very lost when you return. This class is also not for the shy. There are a lot of 'all eyes on you' moments.

I put Difficult for course difficulty due to the overwhelming feeling of disorganization felt, not only by me, but most of the class. (which is located on Glasgow campus). She seems to be a nice enough lady, but the disorganization made most of us want to pull our hair OUT! I'm hopeing this semester is better.
