This is very possibly harder than ACCT 300. It is a very intense course. However, Dr. Hall knows his stuff, and you will learn a lot. The course covers a lot of things from 300 and 301, but they are explained more in depth. The tests cover a lot of material, so study early. You also keep a financial notebook. It includes Wall Street Journal articles, handwritten answers to review questions from each section, and corrected quizzes. Don't get behind on this! It takes a lot of work to complete it. There are also 2-3 quizzes for most weeks. Like I said, it's an intense class, but you will learn a lot!

Ok, I like to call myself a good student. I only missed one class of Mr. Hall's and still I had no idea what he was EVER talking about. He expects everyone to know accouting like he does and if you ask questions he acts like you are dumb. His notes have nothing to do with the tests, mostly because you can't keep up with what he is talking about in class. I actually tried and studied in this class and I barley am going to pull out a C.

I just finished a summer term with Dr. Hall. This was the second time that I had taken Acct 200. The first time I took it I got a D and I had Randall Kinnersly. Do not take him. I got an A with Dr. Hall. He is pretty dry but what accounting guy isn't. They aren't exactly known as the wild type. He had 8 quizzes and dropped the worst 3. There are also online quizzes that you can earn bonus points on the exams. They can also hurt you though if you don't taken them because he takes away points on the exam if you get a 0-3 on them. Attendance is mandatory and after 3 misses he takes off points. You will need the book. He works examples in class that are exactly like what he puts on his exams. His exams are constructed and pretty fair. The worst part about Dr. Hall is that he has HORRIBLE HAND WRITING. You have to keep up with him in class because if you fall behind it is hard to figure out what he has written on the board.

Dr. Hall was a very good teacher. I took Acct 200 as a summer term and it was not a bad class. Accounting is a difficult subject, but he is more then willing to help you. Don't listen to any of the bad reviews. He's a great teacher. he can be a little rude sometimes so dont ask stupid questions. He tells you everything that is gonna be on the test and you can take quizzes to gain extra credit on the exams. i recommend him.

This class is basically just an overview of ACCT 300 and 301. More of 301 than 300. You dont have a textbook...you have a notebook that you must make and go by to study for exams. There is a multitude of points available in this class 600 to be exact. 200 pts - 2 exams, 50 pts - project, 50pts - notebook, 100pts - online quizzes and a 200pt cumulative final. The first exam contains roughly 45-50 multiple choice and 2 essays. He gives you 4 to choose from and you must write over 2 of them. Do not try to wing his tests you will just be screwing yourself over. Study like a 5-6 days in advance and read all the pronouncements and study the online quizzes and exam prep questions. Do the same for the second test. If you study like you should you will know the topics covered and how to apply them to situations given on the exam. Dr. Hall is a good guy...he'll answer any questions that you have. The final isnt as bad as the majority of the students made it out to be. I would suggest that you do not read the pronouncements for the final exam because they will be too time consuming. The best thing is to review the online quizzes and the in class problems that you do. After each exam go back and see the mistakes that you made so that you dont make them on the final. This class is the most challenging of any of the accounting classes but if you put forth a good effort you will receive a good grade. Good Luck!

Mr Hall is a very bland professor. He sounds like Ben Stein when he is teaching and can easily lull you to sleep. If you do the online quizzes you should do alright. I took him as a summer course, but wouldn't recommend him in the fall/spring. Just study study study. His tests arent easy, but if you put it the work you can make it through.

Warning if you're thinking about being an accounting major!!! This is the most difficult accounting class. It takes a lot of outside work, a lot of studying, and a lot of time. Unfortunately, if you're reading this, you've probably already survived the "weed-out" course (300). So you're well on your way to finishing your accounting degree and it's too late to turn back now...Good Luck!!!! Since you have to take this class and have to take it with Dr. Hall, all I can do is tell you what to expect. Your grade is composed of a 200 point cumulative final, two 100 point exams, 100 points from online quizzes, a 50 point notebook to turn in, and 50 points for a computer project. Invest in a good backpack because the notebook gets heavy. You are required to print out all material from his website and include it in your notebook. The notebook also includes your class notes, as many relevant Wall Street Journal articles that you find that are relevant to the course, and a summary of three of those WSJ articles. He also has review questions on his webpage that you have to handwrite and include in your notebook (hint...don't get behind on these). If the notebook is neat, everything is included and all "extras" that he tells you to finish outside of class are completed, you should receive all 50 points on the notebook. The computer project is a bit difficult, but he is willing to help you out if you need it. He provides you with info on the website and you have to complete a variety of spreadsheets (trial balances, financial statements, footnotes, etc.). Most people received between a 40 and 47 on this project. The online quizzes are due for practically every class. You complete them online, print (to include in your notebook) and submit online to Dr. Hall. Any missed questions must be corrected (handwritten) and included in the notebook. The quizzes are easy at first, but then get very difficult (they're old CPA exam questions). As the course goes on, these quizzes become more computational and less conceptual. Get as many points as possible on these quizzes. The first exam has 50 MC questions and two essays. On the essays, you are given two choices for the first essay and two choices for the second essay. I thought the essay was difficult, but several people did well. The test is difficult. Our range of scores was a 47 to a 96, with an average of 77. The second test is much harder, consisting of old CPA exam questions. The average was a 67 with the high grade being a 87. This test was MC only. Theses exams are held outside of class time. The final is cumulative (although the first part of the course, history and rule-making, is excluded). It has 80 MC questions. He tries to make the final a bit more conceptual because of the time limit. He does grade on a curve, but you are not guaranteed anything. He looks at your total points compared to everyone else's and tries to cut the grades off where there is a gap in points. Take good notes and make sure you understand how to do the computational problems. Be prepared to spend a lot of time working on this class. You do not have a book, but subscribe to an online FASB website. You also need to subscribe to the Wall Street Journal or have access to these articles. Do not get behind or this class quickly becomes overwhelming. Dr. Hall is a very intelligent and excellent professor. He realizes the class is hard, but also wants you to work hard to achieve what you want from the class. Plus, the class is interesting (well, I thought it was). It is a good review of topics that you learn in 300 and 301. Good Luck!

This course is great as a summer course, but you brave souls who take it in the Fall or Spring enjoy. I had Jack Hall for the summer and it was an easy class, you will have 3 tests and 1 final, you will also be able to get extra credit for the tests. This isn't a cake walk course you WILL HAVE TO STUDY! Overall Jack Hall is a good professor to have.

I'm not gonna lie, I thought the class was pretty difficult. Dr. Hall wasn't a bad teacher, but he write pretty fast and kind of messy, so you might want to sit close to the front. Online quizzes will help you out a lot, since if you get at least a 7/10, you'll get 2 points added onto your next exam (and that includes the final). Math and it's related subjects have never been my strong suits, but if you study and keep up w/ the class, you'll be alright. Oh yeah, don't skip class b/c you'll get behind, and if you miss more than 2 classes, he'll start taking off points

JACKO is a terrible professor! He doesn't have any interest in helping students AT ALL! His notes are useless because they aren't on tests. If you don't think something is important and worth studying, then you better memorize it because it
will be on the test. DONT TAKE THIS CLASS! Take Stacy
Wade!!!!

Dr. Hall is a pretty good teacher... He gives you a schedule at the beginning of the semester and follows it almost exactly so there's no surprises. If you do the suggested problems, the class is a breeze. He also give you a chance for extra credit by taking online quizes... which can really help I made a 116 on my first test which helped me throughout the semester... He also give in class quized, of which he drops 4... This class may take a little work, but I did fine.

Dr. Hall was a extremely challenging teacher. I learned nothing from his teaching, but doing the homework and reading the chapters got me through. Unless you are a genious you will not follow his lecture. I was the one he called on all the time in class and it paid off because I passed. After the semester was over everyone I talked to was having to retake it. I would recommend that if you take him study at least 3 hours or more a day and set up front. I only got a c in the class but at least I passed. If you have to go on to acct 201 take minwoo lee after this course he is a cool breeze!

I would not advise anyone to take this class with him, unless you aboslutely have to. He expects you to know everything when you come in the door. Come test time it seems that there is just a little information on the test that we have covered in class. He also calls on the same person over and over again which really gets annoying. This class has been a true waste of my time and I have not learned a thing. If I have to retake this class it will be with another instructor.

Mr. Hall knows the information well so he just goes through it very fast and you find yourself having to teach yourself things. You have a lot of quizes and he drops your two lowest scores. Quizzes aren't that hard but exams are very serious. I wouldn't recommend him, I would take someone else

I really liked the content in the class bc it was challenging without being too difficult. My only complaint is Dr. Hall's lack of personality. He was very impersonable, calls on the same people all the time, goes really fast, and was very bland. He almost creeped me out. The class isn't too hard if you go to class and read the chapters. I studied a lot for the tests but it paid off. I do feel prepared for acct 201. Take this class if you don't care about being able to connect with your professor.

Hall is an ok guy, but when it comes to teaching, he goes way to fast. And it's impossible to read his hand writing on the board, and when he does ask if anyone has any questions, he answers it by making you feel stupid in front of everyone. He even called a girl stupid in the class and he only seems to like the students who are doing well in the class at the time. Watch out for this guy, he has no mercy.

I noticed nothing was posted about Hall and thought I would recommend him. I was scared to death of this class at first, but it turned out so much better than I thought. If you do the online quizzes and the Personal Trainer problems, he will give you extra credit on your tests. You have to pay attention in class and follow along with the problems, though. I'd never had any kind of accounting course and passed with flying colors. Take Hall. He'll help you out on any kind of questions you have. He's willing to help you figure stuff out.
