Additional Comments |
DO NOT TAKE RICHARD GELDERMAN. In fact, do not take 106 at all! If you need an Astronomy course, just take 104 and learn about our own solar system. Gelderman is the worst professor I have ever had. He is extremely pompous and demands way too much work for a 100 level course. His tests are all multiple choice, but there are very difficult. I'm not sure if I ever saw anyone make an A on an exam.
His labs are very confusing and he does a poor job explaining what he is looking for. He goes over in class regularly and can never finish his lesson, no matter how long he holds you over. The assignments online are almost on a daily basis and he will never remind you about them.
Attendance may as well be mandatory because if you miss him handing out a lab, or a class activity, you're SOL. He offers extra credit every Friday, which was my saving grace and pulled me up to a B. I took the Honors course and there were extremely intelligent kids in there PRAYING for a C! Most people were fed up that their 4.0 GPA was going to be ruined by a Gen-Ed, 100-level class.
Please, if you love yourself, do not put yourself in the horrid position of taking this class. You will regret it.
