Dr.Phillips is quite possibly the most hateful person that I have encountered at WKU. He constantly complains about his job, the administration or anything else that crosses his mind. It is obvious that he does not enjoy teaching at WKU and should look elsewhere instead of wasting all of our time and money.
His lectures are difficult to follow as he jumps from one decade to the next without rhyme or reason. You will write three to four pages of notes per class. He is often rude with students and sarcastic to the point of annoyance.
Being positive, Dr.Phillips is extremely knowledgeable of Russian history and could be a great teacher if he cared. He gives all of the questions to his tests in class prior to the test date but since what he's looking for on tests is a mystery, that will not help you. He also gives an easy paper assignment that will boost your grade.
Russian history is an extremely interesting subject area but one would be better off studying it on their own than by taking a class taught by Phillips.
