Beiting is definitely not an easy professor but in my opinion he makes Hist 119 the most painless possible...this coming from someone who hates history. He really loves his subjects and you can tell. Because he's enthusiatic it's easier to stay alert and take notes. He'll even tell jokes and stories now and then ( corny, yes, but funny nonetheless ). The best way to study for his test are by going to class. period. The reason I had a C is because I completely missed the mid-term and he wouldn't let me make it up. Even so I should have had a D overall, even with an A on everything else, so he did cut me some slack. If you are having trouble, just go see him in his office. If you keep reasoning with him, he's a forgiving guy and he'll help you in whatever way he sees fit.

Dr. Beiting is terrible. Do not take his class!! You can not read his writing, and his jokes are horrible. He knows what he's talking about, but he wants you to be able to write perfectly, and I feel that should be left to the English professors. Also everthing involves writing, so every topic must be learned in a way that you can write paragraphs on everything, and really this is a required course where only a select few really are interested. I feel I would have learned more if I had been properly tested on topics and specific things that happened in our history rather than random events or people. He is also a very unfair grader. A right answer will get you a C, so unless your a philosopher or History buff no matter how hard you try a A is unattainable.
