Additional Comments
This class is definitely on the level of a high school course. The small amount of math used is basic algebra. You are not expected to have any prior knowledge of astronomy, it's a class for non-science majors. It includes a lab, and the tests are completely multiple choice. If you do the online quizzes and study them then you know more than half of the questions that will be on the exams. There's no tricky grading policy; the point system is out of 1000, where 900 and up is an A, 800-899 is a B, so on. Extra credit points are available every week in the form of turning in astronomy articles that relate to class as well as extra credit assignments, granted they're usually only worth 1 point per assignment. Dr. Gelderman is definitely one of the wackiest professors I've had, but he keeps class interesting and fun. If you have any interest in astronomy and need honors or science credit, I'd definitely recommend this course.
