Additional Comments |
Dr. Emam is the most enjoyable professor I have had in Western's Computer Science department. If you start with his CS 240 class, this class is a breeze. Although sometimes hard to understand, he is very knowledgeable in the subject that he is teaching.
Attendance is mandatory and more than 3 absences will cost you 5% of your final grade. Programming assignments are challenging.
He gives LOTS of extra credit. I attended the class for only half the meetings, missed a test and still pulled a C out of the class with homework and extra credit. Throughout the semester he gives enough extra credit to count as much as a test. These assignments are not free points, though. His extra credit requires a deeper understanding of the topics being studied in order to be completed properly. He will give partial credit for knowledgeable attempts at times.
His tests consist of true/false, multiple choice, and essay/coding. Only 80% of the questions on the test have to be answered for full credit, although he does not allow more than that being answered. He gives you a choice in the tests depending on what areas you might have focused on while studying.
Homework assignments consist of evaluating code behavior and programming.
