Additional Comments |
Dr. Long is probably one of the most intelligent and nicest professors I have had at Western. BUT, let's just say his class was not the nicest. Many people have said that New Testament is way too difficult for a 100-level course and Dr. Long does not make an exception to this rule. I loved hearing his lectures because he was highly intelligent and knows his stuff, but the notes are way too much and he makes his tests to where you have to apply your own thoughts and theories to the lectures, the notes he sends you in e-mails (trust me, they're overkill too), and all of the books you have to read. It makes it literally impossible for most students to get higher than a C in his class. The worst part is that his tests are multiple choice/true false. And even though attendance isn't mandatory after the first week since his classes are so large, if you miss a class, you're pretty much screwed. I did not miss one class and I still barely passed. I would NOT recommend taking a religious studies course, including New Testament, unless you are highly knowledgable in the bible or are a RS major. If you do, take Long, he's difficult, but a nice man and great professor.
