Additional Comments |
My opinions of this class are somewhat mixed. I'll admit that Dr. Love certainly knows his stuff when it comes to the French language, but I don't feel that I was prepared well enough for his class, even after taking French for two years in high school. He focuses more on speaking the language than anything else, which can be difficult if you lack experience in that field. Dr. Love rarely ever speaks English in his class; he explains everything in French, but will translate for anyone who doesn't comprehend. He reviews extensively over everything that one would learn in high school, then moves on to more complicated topics. He gives quizzes for almost each time that class meets, but they are all pretty simple. The hardest aspect of the midterm/final is the speaking section, but if you follow the review in class and practice some on your own, then you should be okay. He is a good teacher, and is understanding and helpful, but I can see where someone would find the class difficult.
