Please do yourself a favor and do not listen to any of these other students. Dr. P is THE best professor I have ever had. He is always willing to help and he is intelligent to the max. It was a privilege to be one of his students and I feel like I learned from the best. The way he prepares you for the ACS final is unmatchable and his teaching style is perfect for this class. The people that gave him bad reviews are lazy and did not want to work for their grade. If you want to learn and are interested in the subject, take Dr. P.

Don't listen to these hacks that say that Dr. P2 is a bad teacher. He is one of the best I've had. He care about you and your grade. He expects a lot of you and helps you achieve your goals. Its not a cake course, its freakin' organic chemistry! Attendance isn't mandatory, but if you don't come you'll probably fail. This is hard material but not impossible. Organic 2 is alot hard comparatively. Everything you do is at the level the test are at. He teaches in depth so thats the way you learn. He doesn't look at the clock constantly. He tries to tell you everything because theres alot of crap to cover in ORGANIC CHEMISTRY. P2 is awesome. Take him and you'll see.

Just for everyones information Dr. Palandoken sucks as a teacher he should have stuck with research. I had him for organic I and failed then took Dr. Snyder put in 1/20 the time and got a 96%. I can understand someone not putting in the time but when jumping from a 35% to a 96% there is something wrong with the teacher and not the student. Dr. Snyders grades represents the traditional graham bell and not a shifted one in the F range such as in Palandokens

This is the easiest class. If you know anything about chemistry this class will be a breeze. The best thing about this class is you don't have to show up everyday. Dr. Palandoken is not very personable. Your best bet is to sit in the back and shut up!!!

Dr. Palandoken is an awesome teacher. He will work hard to help you get a better grade. Make sure you take good notes. The amount of notes per class is a lot. However, if you do the study sheets and know your mechanisms you will be prepared. Time is not as much of a factor in Organic II as it is in Organic I on the exams. The people with bad reviews are people who are not willing to admit they didn't take the time to study. Don't worry about the bad reviews. He is hard, but VERY fair. Organic chemistry is going to be hard no matter who you take, but Dr. P is very very good.

Dr. Palandoken is the most wonderful professor I've ever had. I did not do well in this class due to my TERRIBLE Organic I Professor. However, Dr. P. went OUT OF his way to ensure that we LEARNED this subject. Notes are extremely necessary in this class and he gives plenty of extra credit. The ACS final is rough, but mandatory. Dr. P. is very intelligent and very fair. Even though he is so intelligent he can take things down to a student's level. If you're not willing to work for your grade, don't take Dr. P. However, of the options at WKU...he's the very best.

Mr. Palandoken is a terrible teacher. the many negative reviews of this guy were right on. he cares more about his title and ego than teaching the class. its obvious that he doesn't want to be there lecturing or helping students. don't believe any of the possitive reviews. definitely take any of the other Organic profs instead.

Don't let the name fool you, he was raised in california and has no accent what so ever. He is a pretty good teacher but sometimes is alittle difficult because he expects perfection most of the time. But from what I hear most chem teachers are like that. He offers 10 points extra credit on each test just for writing an article summary...helps alot. Study hard and you'll do fine.

This class will be difficult no matter what teacher you decide to take. He does give lots of notes, and it's hard to get in everything he says and also everything that's written on the board. Tests represent lecture material well, it's not EXACTLY the same as what's written on the board, of course, you have to understand and not just memorize and spit it back out on the test. Tests are a little long for the time limit of one hour. Relative to other chemistry classes i've taken, there is a LOT of extra credit available, and he takes lots of time with students when they come to his office..i always have to wait to get in to talk to him because there's someone else in there. he also does review sessions before each test. I am not the strongest student, and i did OK with lots of studying. And don't let the name fool ya, no accent or anything.

If you are thinking about taking Dr. Palandoken- DON'T! Wait and take Dr. Snyder. Believe me you will have a much easier time and you'll probably enjoy it more. Dr. Palandoken just doesn't have what it takes to teach. He checks his watch every minute to make sure he can cram as much as possible in one lecture. He thinks everything in life for us is preparation for pre-proffesional tests like the MCAT or PSAT. So he expects his students to do everything in a set amount of time. Therefore for a test you are given ONLY 55 minutes to complete it. If you so much as write anything after time is up you fail. Now he might mean well but this is not how you teach one of the hardest classes in chemistry. When you go to his office to ask for help he again checks his watch every minute making it seem as if you are wasting his time. Do yourself a favor and take someone else for this class.

Dr. Palandoken is one of the worst teachers I've ever had. He gives lots of quizzes and homework that come from the notes, but then his exams are an entirely different entity. If you take away the extra credit (10 points on each test, not including the final), the averages have been Fs for the class as a whole, and he doesn't seem to care. He says that its normal. There are straight A students in this class that are currently worried about having to retake it. I would not recommend Palandoken as a teacher for Organic. I'm sure he'd be great for other chemistry classes or research though.

This teacher is horrible, the class average on three out of four tests were in the fiftys or below. He tries to help you but he makes you feel stupid. He also dosent give you near enough time on a test to finish it, and the test are like nothing that you have seen in the homework. He does give you ten bonus points each test but the majority of the class still fails the tests with these points. Reading the book is alot more useful than going to lecture.

This is the worst professor ever!! Our last test average without extra credit (which is only ten points) was a 42!! The one before that was a 49!!! He doesn't curve and thinks these grades are normal. He doesn't teach anything he just copies the whole lecture from the book almost word for word. His tests are nothing like the homework or lecture. I have never received a grade lower than a B until this class. The whole lecture is spent just coping notes he writes on the board while he lectures. By the time you finish copying one example he's already on the next one and you don't have any time to listen to what he says. He also checks his watch every few minutes to make sure he can cram in as much information as possible. When you go to see him in his office you feel like a burden when he talks to you. He cares more about his research than any of his students. I will never take this teacher again. I suggest to anyone who is thinking about taking him to switch to snyder even if you have to wait a semester.

He is by far the WORST professor I have ever had at western. Do not take him if you want to receive a good grade. I know several A students that have audited his class because he is ridiculous. All he does the whole class period is copy straight from the book, examples and all. Then he checks his watch every 5 minutes to see how much he can cram on the board. So we read all the chapters, do the homework, and when we take the test it's foreign -its problems he's pulled out of his ass that we've never done before-that's the majority of the test. So if you want to hate him and chemistry you can take him, but I would NEVER recommend him.

Face it, Organic Chemistry is hard. If you take Palandoken you will have a chance at learning what you need to know. He gives 4 tests and a final. Every test is cumulative, so you have to study all the time. There is a quiz every Friday. You cannot miss class. Let me repeat, you CANNOT miss class, if you do then you'll get behind and you will have no chance at all. He gives 10 points extra credit on every test if you do the extra credit assignments (including going to seminars and writing papers over it, reviewing chem articles in journals, and going to chem club meetings.)
Definatly take Palandoken, you have a chance to get an A and he is a pretty nice guy. The exams are very difficult, but they are doable and he is fair with partial credit. The tests are taken DURING CLASS and you only have 55 minutes to complete them. That is the thing that makes this class difficult - the timed tests. Oh yea, he speaks perfect english (it seems like most chem teachers don't these days).
