This class was so easy. We only wrote 3 essays and they could be over anything you want. This is basically how your grade will be accumulated. If you do good on the research papers, thats what you will get in the class. The quizzes he gives don't even matter because i failed every one and still got a B. The final doesn't matter either, because i BOMBED it. He showed a lot of movies in class, including Dracula. The topics/notes are basically over liturature...and theres not very many. He is crazy and off the wall. We dont really study writing, so if you need a class that will prepare you for writing, don't take him. But if this is the last English class you need, its an easy A/B.

i am making this post form his class right now and it is the worst class i have ever taken. He is the most boring teacher i have ever taken and honestly i cant imagine someone being more borin. He just rambles on and on about ghosts and spirits and other folklore related topics. We cover nothing with regards to english and the readings he requires are like science journals or something. Not a single person pays attention and he keeps you the whole time in a night class. Whatever you do dont take him he is awful

What can I say about Oleksy?!?! Alot of people will say to take him because he is easy, but it just depends on who you are. If you do not kiss his butt or he just does not like you then you will have a hard time in this class. I am a straight A student and like teachers who are straight forward and do not dance around a subject. Half the time he had no idea what he was talking about. He would jump from one subject to another and it would be completely off the wall subjects. He expects you to know EVERYTHING. When you ask a question most the time he will make fun of you and not even answer you. He will assign a date for a paper then completely change it and fuss with you if you try to correct him. The grades he gives on papers is just how much he likes it or how he feels that day. The final was so horrible that many people were so angry they fussing with him and walking out of the room. Nothing in the class will help you for the final unless you already know alot of english. He does not teach you how to write a paper at all. And he does not care to pick you out in class and make fun of your answers on a paper you turn in. Do not take this teacher unless you already know what you are doing!

Professor Oleksy was a little strange, but very likable. He does not like Bowling Green, and wants to move as soon as he can find another job. You will hear a lot about that. However, you take very few notes and watch a lot of videos. He lets you out of class early most times. He has periodic quizes over the night befores reading. The quizes are straight forward and easy. Overall I would recommend him for English 100.

Mr. Oleksy is an odd character as I learned the first day of class. He's interesting and has some wild stories that will catch you off guard. Since I had a night class, we only met once a week and I liked it. We usually got assigned about 4 -5 stories each week, then we'd have a 10 question quiz over them each class period, then discuss the stories and their authors. He has this thing about symbolism. That's what some assignments are usually about. For instance, you might watch a movie in class, and then get assigned a half-page paper on symbolism in the movie. He can be very comical, especially when you have people in class that have had him before. I've joined that group since we are all taking him for 300 in the fall. Our final was cumulative, and we had to know a lot of information writers and symbolism in stories, and we got to use our notes on the essay. Take very good detailed notes and you'll do fine! He say's he's retiring soon, so you better take him while you can!

I loved this teacher. He was the best english teacher ever. I would recommend him to anyone. During his class we only took 2-3 quizes the whole semester. We wrote approx 10 papers but they were easy. He only wanted the papers to be 1 page double spaced. Thats easy. We also did one research paper which had to be 5 pages. He mostly will give everyone an A on everything. He grades a little harder on the research paper but he rounds the grade up so if you got a C he will give you a B. if you turn it in early he puts your grade up. Overall he is a weird teacher but you get used to that. he is a very fun teacher. I reccomend him.

Mr. Oleksy is the most easy going teacher I have had since i came to Western. As long as you show up for class and complete the few assignments he gives, you will pass this class with flying colors. If you need an easy A and are willing to go to class Oleksy is your man.
