Pros: Ms. Cherry is a good teacher, and very knowledgeable. She is down-to-earth and friendly. Additionally, she has been in the broadcasting industry so she has a real-world perspective.
Cons: There are MANY assignments. One due every class. Friday there is a current events quiz, Wednesday a take-home grammar quiz, plus assignments due every class too. But it is doable, and she lets you make up HW for more points.
My best advice is to go to every single class, and make a genuine effort, and you'll do fine.

This class wasn't as hard as I expected. You visit two separate courthouses downtown on two separate days and write a 2-3 page paper about it. There is a group project/presentation, but the way she grades it gives you a lot of control over your own personal grade and minimizes the impact of bad group members on your grade. You have to write a 3-page personal code of ethics, which is super easy. The rest of your grade is comrprised of three exams, which aren't too bad if you study, and a variety of quizzes and homework assignments (all of which are take-home or pre-announced).
You can do fine in this class without reading the chapters because she gets her notes straight from the book. She presents her notes in PowerPoint form and makes the PowerPoints available on Blackboard. She gives you a study guide for each quiz and test, and it's hard to make less than an A on the exams/quizzes as long as you pay attention to those study guides.
Mrs. Cherry may initially seem a bit abrasive but she starts to grow on you after a week or so. Her expectations are not unreasonable and she grades fairly. The only thing that can really sink your grades is attendance; she only allows two absences.

She is a good teacher... she seems to have alot of experience in the field. This class is fun. During the class we had to act as a radio host and record our assignments before class. The only thing that sucked is we had to listen to eachother recordings in front of the whole class. But it does help in the end. I would take her class again.

A couple of big projects, a few papers, and the rest is pretty much notes, quizes, and a few tests.
Cherry knows her stuff. don't be intimidated by her just go to class and participate...dont be afraid to ask questions.
She worked in the broadcasting business for a while as a legal reporter so she is pretty qualified to teach this course.
She is good.

This class is pretty easy if you pay attention in class and study for the quizzes. She gives out crossword puzzles which are easy points. She is really a funny lady and has a lot of stories to tell that relate to the topics, tests aren't too bad but you have to study to get an a. If you pretty much just do what she says and follow instructions you will get on her good side and she will do what she can to help you out.

She's a bit abrupt, but sometimes her attitude is humorous. The notes are all on blackboard, take your highlighter and you should be alright.
Although she says there is an essay on the tests, she likes the essay in bullet form.
She will eat you if you use improper grammar.

Mrs. Cherry is an awesome teacher! She really knows her materials and is good in explaining the laws and court cases to you. She is very energetic and up in your face! She makes going to class fun and enjoyable. It is hard to fall asleep in her class because of her knowledge of the laws and court cases and her enthusiastic style of teaching! Her tests are moderate. If you study you will do fine. She issues out study guides and they are like the tests. Overrall, you will learn a lot about the laws of america, copyright protection, and things you will need to know as a citizen of the U.S.

It wasn't an easy course, but it was useful. Mrs. Cherry knows what she's talking about, and will help you if need be. She can be short with you sometimes, but overall it was an enjoyable class.

I was kinda scared of her at first, because of what I heard others say...but after I was in class and I got to know her..I really liked her. She's very "in your face", but in a good way because you remember the information better. She definately knows her stuff. We'd spend classtimes just discussing current events and court cases. She made law interesting and I didn't think that was possible. Be sure and READ the book and you should be fine.

Buy the textbook - it will save your hand. Her powerpoints come straight from the textbook so just come with that and a highlighter and you should be fine. Or if you have to have the actual notes, just print out the powerpoint (she has all of them already up on blackboard) and that way you can make notes in the margins. Her reviews are the test exactly so make sure you study them. The group projects will help your grade out a lot - just make sure you're all doing your best and cite your sources! And do all the extra credit you can - even if you think you don't need it at the time, it will really help you out.

Mrs. Cherry is really fantastic. she's been in the business for several years and really knows what she's talking about and what people expect from you in radio. she's a great source to just talk to about her experiences. her tests are relatively easy, but those quizzes are what will get you. (every tuesday, current events quiz.) but its a fun class and its very relative if you're going into radio!

Ms. Cherry is very effective, and I learned a great deal from her class, which is suprising for such a boring subject. She is a very spirited lady that will grab your attention. My only complaint: she is fairly intimidating. That could be a good thing, though, b/c her fierceness will force you to stay alert and keep you prepared. She expects attendance everyday. I made good grades on her tests, but that's only because I studied A LOT. She gives very very useful study guides! I recommend this class... you sure won't forget it!

This class is pretty easy. All notes are on powerpoints on blackboard, so you don't have to copy everything down during class. There are 3 case studies on supreme court cases to do in groups out of class. Mrs. Cherry grades fairly hard on all written assignments, but she is a very fair teacher. She does an excellent job of relating the boring topics to the jobs of broadcasters and has interesting stories of her own career to help explain material. She gives a study guide before exams and all test questions come from material listed on there.

Mrs. Cherry is a very good teacher. Of course, like in any college class, you have to work a little harder to make a good grade. If you are a communications major, Mrs. Cherry teaches you exactly what you need to know to start out. Her test are easy and goes right from the textbook. She is a little picky on your notes and outline though. Word of advice, do good on your first speech and you can expect to get good grades on the rest. Give her a try, she is a very respectable teacher to take!

This class was way harder than it should have been. Mrs. Cherry is very very picky about the speeches. All together there were four. We had to have our outlines just perfect plus she even required a special way you wrote notes on notecards. The tests were hard too, because they came from the book, not really the notes. If you want an A expect to spend hours gathering research and writing all of your speeches.

Mrs. Cherry is horrible. She grades 4 of the 5 speeches extremely hard. She's a sarcastic wench. I would not reccomend anyone to take her.

Cherry is the most difficult teacher I have ever had. She is unwilling to take time to work with her students and she constantly points out their weaknesses in front of the entire class. I don't feel I have learned anything in this class, so if you don't have to take it, AVOID IT AT ALL COSTS!!!

At the beginning of this course all Ms. Cherry talks about is her kids, and how kids are easy to raise, and we shouldn't complain about being in college, etc. This was real annoying. She gets better, but she only taught our one class, so she must have thought we didn't have any other classes either. I almost had more homework in her class than all my other classes combined. Her tests are real easy, but she has quizes over every few chapters that are like short answer questions. She is in broadcasting, so she grades our 4 speeches pretty tough and goes by the book and all the guidelines. If you have the choice I WOULD NOT take Ms. Cherry for Public Speaking!!
