This class is fairly difficult. Dr. Kentworthy isn't a great teacher at all. I do believe he wants to be a good one though. He always has a review day for tests, asks for questions about what people might not understand, and waits around after class to help. The only problem is, when there's so much you don't understand these things don't help that much. He gives review sheets before the exams which are very important. Basically look up the definitions of those words in your book and understand the basic function of how they react in the envioronment and you should at least get a "C." Several people in my class failed. I believe it was a combination of lack of effort (this being a 100 level course) and a bad teacher. I got an "A" because I studied a fair bit, and to be perfectly honest, because of the curve he gave the class so people would get better grades.
The curve looked like this
80-100 = A
70-79 = B
61-69 = C
60 = D
<59 = F
Good luck...

He is the worst professor that I have ever had....he is not willing to help and he tried a billion teaching methods on our class...none of them worked. I have not learned much in his class...it was a waste of money and time. DO NOT TAKE HIM FOR ANYTHING!!!!

Kenworthy is a TERRIBLE teacher. His lectures are not over material in the textbook and his tests are over material that is in neither the lectures OR the books. DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER. Geography should have been an easy gen-ed credit, but he makes it a pain in the ass.

This class is not an 'easy' intro course. Professor is difficult and moves along very fast. Be prepared to attend EVERY class and pay ATTENTION! It's easy to fall behind. His exams are ALL ESSAY. Found it hard to study for them, since most of the essay questions are very broad.

ok for the money my parents pay for me to get a better education i would hope the professors would be the best. i took this class as an elective b/c i like geography but this guy shredded my GPA and my like of the course. besides the fact that it is hard to take him seriously b/c he is short, he talked to the chalk board rather than the class, he backtracks in his discussions and just isn't an effective teacher. his way of grading is beyond confusing. i thought i was going into the final with a C, which the way he stated in the beginning of the course, my grades was a C, but i ended up receiving an F for the class b/c i had an F the whole time.
don't take him for anything,

Kenworthy teaches this class as if you were graduate students. He never really goes into depth on any one subject and provides poor explanations Do not take him! The only plus for this teacher was if the entire class performed poorly on tests, he would grade on a curve.. which is the only way I got a C!

It is not the material that makes his class hard it is the fact that he can not teach. I taught myself and worked with those around me to make a B in his class. Do not take it...

this guy teaches the class like it is a 300 level course. his notes are not that helpful and his study guides are just a list of every topic in the chapter and in no way prepare u for the test. i strongly recommend getting another teacher for this class!

Kenworthy is a really nice guy, but I felt like he was trying too hard to cater to the students, and if you give students too much leeway, they will milk the teacher for all it's worth. Given that it was his first semester at Western and I think he was just trying to get into the groove of things, I gave him the benefit of the doubt. He's really smart and knows what he's teaching, but it was difficult for a lot of people in class to grasp the concepts. Overall, it was ok. I didn't do very well on the tests but because he curved our grades I got an A on most of them.

Dr. Kenworhy is enthusiastic about his teaching, but his unorganized style leaves many students wondering what is important. Expect little organized power-point presentations in this class. Plus a 10 page research paper thats due at the end of the semester (DO IT EARLY!!!). And if he [brackets] one more [[thing]] on the board, [I] and going to go [CRAZY!]

I would advise anyone not to take this man's class. I withdrew because he had to curve a class average of 11%. I would not take this man's class again and I would not take this class if I had never had geography before. It is suppose to be a 100 level class but he makes it seem like it is a 400 level class. He is arrogant and is not willing to answer questions directly. Overrall, a bad professor.

He's one of the kind of guys that you can tell he is really smart and that he knows what he's talking about but he doesn't know how to teach it. He's pretty boring and hard to pay attention too as well.

This class was ok. I didn't have a whole lot of trouble with it...and I'm not a science person at all. He tried a lot of different note styles with us from Power Point presentations, to passing out the notes, to making us write down whatever we thought was important. He really did try to make class interesting and he is enthusiastic about what he does, so that's a plus. Just pay attention and come most of the time and you'll be fine. Oh, and I wouldn't buy the book until he said you HAVE to have it bc I cracked it a grand total of one time at the beginning of the semester and wound up selling it back after the first couple of days of class!

This class is a lot harder than I expected it to be. He's a fairly boring guy, but he knows his stuff. He can talk and give good examples, it's just hard to stay awake. Attendance isn't mandatory so it's hard to keep yourself in line and go to his class. Tests are pretty hard and there's only three, so you have to make sure and study because that's the only grades you have.
