Additional Comments
This was an honors class, but I wouldn't recommend taking it. To be fair, I had her the semester after her husband passed away, so I'm sure that wasn't her best semester. But she seemed to take her bitterness out on us. She said some hateful things (in general) that made me not like her. She doesn't have a lot of sympathy for students. Her attitude is we've all got problems. Deal with it. Dr. Lemerise is quite blunt. I didn't find her very helpful, and nearly every time I asked a question, she made me feel stupid, like I was wasting her time and I should already have known the answer. The tests are all essays (10) and you have to choose 4. She NEVER lets you out of class a minute early, even on test days. There is ALOT of reading involved, and not just 1, but two 10 pg papers. 2!!!!!! That's a lot of work for a 100 level class, even if it is honors. I think we had 2 chances for 5 points extra credit through the whole semester (not enough). Attendance isn't mandatory, but you lose class participation points if you don't come. 1 or 2 absences won't hurt you. She lectures (and holds discussion) on topics the students ask for, so you need to read the chapters assigned before class. Lots of outside reading in addition to the text. NOT RECOMMENDED!!
