Ami Carter is one of the best teachers that I've had here at Western. She is very funny and understanding. She expects you to pay attention but she isn't demanding. She's very very nice and knows her stuff as well. Carter is a very smart woman. She prepares you for her tests and even lets you know when you'll have a "pop quiz." You have a current events quiz every Friday, but it's not hard as long as you look over the BG Daily before class. You will give a presentation called a Media Minute, but it's cake. There's not a time frame you have to complete it in and you can do it over anything in the media. Basically, Carter is a good teacher because she has you learn a lot but her class is definitely not boring and won't overload you on the work. Take Ami Carter! She's the best!

BCOM 185, from what I can tell, isn't going to be 100% a breeze no matter how you do it, but Ms. Carter manages to pull it off nicely. I liked her most for her I'm-not-taking-any-childish-crap attitude; I wish more professors had that in them. Do what she says, read the chapters, and study the notes. She gives you study guides for each exam and plenty of online quizzes, which are good for easy points. There's also a group project and a 3-page paper, which isn't bad. She offers extra credit opportunities left and right, so show up for class -- it'll pay off!

This class was hell on earth. It is Western's way of saying "Welcome Freshman! Now bend over so we can rape you with busy work and guest speakers."

Ami Carter is a nice person: she loves her kids, she goes to church, she's your nice, down-to-earth, middle-aged, american mother that every girl hopes to be someday, but her tests are HARD! She finds the tinniest details from the chapters to put on the test (and you better read the chapters if you want to pass!). But the good thing is, she gives lots of oppurtunities for extra credit, take advantage of all of them! If you are taking this class but it is not required for your major or minor, think of taking something else! It sounds interesting, but it's not... it's just all the history, rules and regs that future broadcasters need to know before they can go on to higher level courses, so if you don't plan on doing that, please save your GPA and don't take this...

Ami is a great teacher. There is a lot of work but it's so easy...the only reason you wouldn't get a good grade is simply if you don't do it! She will work with you with whatever you need and I actually enjoyed going to her class...but beware there is a lot of work involved, but if you stay on top of it-it's easy!

Very caring professor; will help you out if you need it. Easy class... I was loaded down with work in other classes, devoted very little effort or time to this class, and pulled out an A. Don't have to study very much for the final. Extra credit available.
If you haven't had BCOM 265, you're going to be screwed in this class. We had a couple AD majors in our class, and they were clueless. Worst part, we didn't do very much advertising. This is not a knock on Ms. Carter, but this class is useless. If you have had BCOM 265, this class will teach you nothing new. Everyone else I've talked to (in the class and in the other 325 courses) seems to agree. The main problem I had was that she flew through the material and assumed you knew how she wanted the writing assignments formatted. If you're used to LeTourneau's style, ask her how she wants things because it's a little different than his way. Good professor though.

Mrs. Carter is very nice and funny. She doesn't care to say what she thinks. The class is easy and there is a lot of interaction w/in the class, which I prefer. She talks fast when giving notes, but don't be scared to tell her to slow down. She is laid back and is very cool, just don't piss her off.

I really liked Dr. Carter. She is really easy to get along with. We had a few quizzes at the beginning of the semester over grammar, but they weren't too bad and she goes over everything before. You have to come up with a product to advertise. We had a take home final. During the final time we presented our products to the class and acted out the plays we wrote in groups. She gives you plenty of class time to work on everything and almost everyday you get out early. If you need this class, take Dr. Carter!!

Come to class, participate and thats all you need to do. Mrs. Carter makes this class fun and she isnt a very hard teacher. She focuses alot on grammar the first part of class, so if you are lacking in that department, be expecting a crash course. Otherwise, this is smooth sailing with her as captain.

Ms. Carter is fun. She's a little unorganized and sometimes jumps from topic to topic, but is always patient and always willing to stay after class and talk if you need help. She gives reviews to her exams which help a lot!! Most of what she does is straight out of the book, and if she gives you extra information, she let's you know it isn't in the book. I really enjoyed this class and I would recommend it to anyone!

She puts the notes on powerpoint or on an overhead...it's pretty much straight from the book. If you study a little bit you will be alright. She is very laid back and tries to make class enjoyable.
