Additional Comments |
I took this class my last semester. I was excited to learn sign language and I did learn a lot, but there was so much work required outside of class that it made me dislike it. You are required to do 6 labs, which require finding a time that fits both you and your partner, as well as the Lab instructors. That is not so bad. But in addition to that, you are required to have 5 contact hours with the Deaf community. I had to take off work three times just to make sure my partner and I had a time to meet to do the requirements outside of class. Two videos, two major exams and one final performance is also required. I was hoping to be able to relax through this class and just enjoy learning the beautiful language, but I was so stressed about getting everything done that it was hard to do that. Stephanie is nice, but she goes fast and sometimes makes you feel stupid. Nancy, the lab instructor, is great. Very funny and helpful. Overall, I learned a lot in this class, but with a lot of consequences.
