Additional Comments |
After the first day, there is no talking unless she gives you permission beforehand. She loves people that volunteer to go first, so make sure you do so. If you don't volunteer then she will randomly pick someone, and most likely, it will be the dumbest one in the class. She is a really good professor that wants to help everyone learn ASL. Her parents were deaf and she is an interpreter at a local church. There will be mandatory contact hours that you must complete in order to get your final grade. Our class only did 6, but that's because we now have a new ASL lab and an annotated bibliography. She takes a really long time grading things so don't expect to find out your grade before the drop date. If you take this class, be prepared to make some really good friends in your class and meet a lot of deaf people in the community. There is now a minor that will start in the fall of 2006, so if you take ASL 2, you will be able to go on and take ASL 3 and ASL 4. It's exciting.. take this course and be prepared to have fun and work hard!
